Being a picture I'm guessing, as Zed said, it's felted just enough to hold it together and not very fulled. I got a similar effect with my seascape picture by doing that ... It's on here somewhere but I can't remember the post title. I think it was rather frowned on as 'bad felt' at the IFA weekend but I think if it's a picture and not going to get wear, why does it matter...go for the effect you want, not the felt 'quality'.

If you go to Bungay I recommend coffee and cake at The Old Bank tea room...it's an experience 😄

And if you happen to take a trip to Bungay (although not sure why you would, unless it's to search these out) there's an excellent quilting shop, Sew and So's, and also a wonderful little old-fashioned haberdashery shop that also has some fabrics. The quilting shop is NOT cheap but the haberdashery and fabric shop, Whightmans, often has some real bargains. It's a pretty little town too but rather a trek from Norwich.

Super hat, Anne, glad the class was good, those folds look sturdy. I see you are in Norfolk - do you have any favourite felt/fibre/textile shops there? I am in Norfolk next week visiting family & always interested in trying a new shop or 2 ! Thank you! Where abouts will you be Jill? There's an excellent yarn shop in Norwich - if you'll be near there I'll dig out the details. Otherwise there's very little about. 😳

Ann I thought I saw some threads in the picture. Did you sew the folds and then work on them more or was it just for drying? Hi Ann, no threads on mine but some people had threads sewn in to show them where they needed to make the twists and pleats. I think they were the hats with the big rose incorporated

Thank you Tracey. Me too re simplicity. There were other styles we could make, more complex but didn't suit me. This one did. 😊

In a moment of weakness I offered ...had he asked I'd have probably said no! Actually once I got going I quite enjoyed it!

Oooh, I just recently bought a mushroom ...believe it or not actually for darning! Hubby won't throw away his old jumpers and wears them while full of holes if I don't darn them! Now when I've repaired the jumpers I'll have another use for it! 😄

I can't see why the muslin would interfere with machine embroidery ... But I'll leave it to the experts to decide whether it would add anything useful! 😊

I used about 150g but I was a bit heavy handed! Choice was a good idea as I'd thought purple and it ended up green! Can't send a pic via the iPad but will try later from the PC! I'm very happy with it!
