Anyone know who the patron saint of boilers is? I need to say a prayer or two that mine doesn't decide to give me notice this year. Apparently the patron saint against cold weather is Saint Sebaldus. Florian (lovely name, better than Sebaldus) is patron saint of soap boilers but not actually of boilers! (It's a slow day at work today - can you tell?!!)

Thanks Zed - I've been playing around with these a little bit and they're great fun. No photos because I haven't made anything that looks good yet <grin> but that's entirely because I've literally been playing with leftover scraps. They're good to roll up and then stretch out a bit and i reckon there's great potential for making a lacy felt with them that way.

I sometimes use a sander if I'm feeling to achy to role (as I have rheumatoid arthritis) and also a tumble dryer, but the sander is annoyingly noisy so I prefer not to. Drier is good for things that aren't too delicate!

Well done for going half an hour. I think my arms would give out!
They're lovely ...I especially like the evening primrose. See what you mean about the brown yarn though in the daisy one.
Can you get the tulip stem definition back with some embroidery?

Spend more time rolling ... Me too! I think I'm too impatient to be a good felter!

Sorry to hear your Mum hasn't been too well and hope she gets better soon. There are two great yarn shops in Norwich, one is on a cobbled back street ... Beccles has a quaint little yarn shop which also sells beads, buttons, ribbons, embroidery kits, tapestry kits, enbroidery and tapestry threads, craft cards, sewing boxes....... it's quite an emporium in its old-fashioned way. A Norwich trip usually ends up with some kind of fatality for my purse ;-) Pottergate is the one I was thinking of - don't know the one in St Giles Street but I'll look out for it. The one in Pottergate, Norfolk Yarn, apparently now sell some tops - I think fairly limited but good to have some!

Still here, heading for home late today. I didn't get to Bungay. But did go to Wroxham Barns, very cute craft shops & petting zoo. They have really super quilting shop , not cheap of course but great variety. Unfortunately my Mum hasn't been too well, so partial change of emphasis for my trip. Sorry to hear about your mum! I hope she's on the mend soon. I'd forgotten about Wroxham Barns! Glad you enjoyed it though. 😊

Did the Honesty seeds germinate? If not I can send more, mine are in flower now. Can you use honesty for dying too? Or do you just like it? One of my favourite plants!

Being a picture I'm guessing, as Zed said, it's felted just enough to hold it together and not very fulled. I got a similar effect with my seascape picture by doing that ... It's on here somewhere but I can't remember the post title. I think it was rather frowned on as 'bad felt' at the IFA weekend but I think if it's a picture and not going to get wear, why does it matter...go for the effect you want, not the felt 'quality'. Sorry. Just realised I'm talking about roving, not yarn and locks but I would think the same applies?
