I think this is far and away the best forum I ever joined - very friendly and helpful, and with so much information stored here that you can look back on. I haven't posted for ages because I almost never do felting anymore due to arthritis problems! I am considering getting back into doing miniatures for jewelry etc. but that hasn't happened as yet! I hope the Forum continues. Personally I'd be happy to contribute on Facebook but I don't think you'd be able to store the wealth of information that's already on here in the same way.
Thank you all for all your hard work keeping it going and long may it continue.

Good point Lyn! :-) And then maybe i could turn it inside out and use it as a lining in another bag, if it got a bit tatty!

The samples look terrific, as does the beach hut gallery! What a great idea. Coincidentally I've just been making sari silk samples and was amazed how well they felted, including the metallic bits! I'm thinking of making a bag too, but with the silk on the outside ... Guess it might not wear very well though! Hmm... would be pretty while it lasted though!

This may be kind of obvious but I only just thought of it so maybe you haven't either! Even the lightest breeze has wrapped my plastic (used to cover felt as I rub and roll it) around the washing line and got it in a complete tangle. The answer is to weight it all round, of course, and clothspegs do the job perfectly!

We're in a tiny town - no uni, but Norwich, about 40 mins away, has a uni - don't have a tool library as far as I know though - but I will investigate at some point. It's not that I have an urgent need for a laser cutter - but I'd LOVE to play with one given a chance! :-)

I found a map of mad/fab labs and hacker spaces and maker spaces in the uk and east of England was blank! There are moves a foot to start something in Norwich. Amazes me that there appears to be nothing in Cambridge!

Loved Tracey's card, Ruth! How did you manage to felt into the organza and keep it flat? Little or no fulling? Or some other magic method I don't know? :-)

Hurrah, I got my lovely card from Marilyn yesterday - I needed cheering up after a tooth extraction, and this certainly did the job: Marilyn card 1 by Anne Hickley, on Flickr And here's the back: Marilyn card 2 by Anne Hickley, on Flickr Gorgeous Christmasy colours and glittery bling! Thanks Marilyn! (Like your panda paper too!) It will take pride of place on the bookcase along with Jifke's card from last year, once we have all our decorations up.

Zed, I had never heard of a fab lab but what a great idea. Sadly there seem to be none in the entire east of England at the mo.
