It's beautiful - if it's for wall hanging, leave it as it is!

Thank you, Lyn, Ruth and Judy! Yes, it is for a wallhanging and I keep forgetting that it really does not need to be wet-felted unless used for something sturdy like a pillow or such. I loved making this piece, which was totally serendipity the other day when I was thinking about the fish and the sea.

I was going to say the same as Ruth and Lyn, but also if you were intending it for something else, I'd suggest making another one and leaving this at it is because it's perfect.

Ah, thanks Frances and Zed. I live near Lake Michigan, but it’s not quite the same as the sea.

My dose today was dying some silk black because I can't find my black silk. the other thing I did was clear of the carders in feed table so I can use it again.

I have a neighbor that paints on Screen Doors (Snowman for Winter, Lighthouse, Victorian Lady, etc). Apparently the trend started many years ago and is very prominent in Baltimore Md. - So I cut a small piece of fiberglass window screen and was able to felt on it - wheather or not it will lead to anything I do not know - but I do like the look of a design without a background color. From a distance the screen is not seen. It would take a massive amount of roving to do a whole door but the 3 dimensional effect would be fantastic.
My other neighbor had her baby girl and I gave her the pink felted vessel full of baby goodies and she loved it.
Have to start getting all my supplies together as we will be going to our condo 10/1 for 2 or 3 months. I travel with my Sewing Machine, about 5 plastic bins of felting supplies, a bin with floral design supplies and other odds and ends. Oh and one case with clothes.

The screen sounds great, do you have a picture? Maybe if I moved twice a year I would be more organised.

The screen project sounds interesting. I'd love to see pics, too.
Do you drive to your condo? I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to felt over the winter without having to bring half the house. But we fly and don't stay in one place.

Ann - how did the black silk come out? Black always seems to be hard one for me as it usually has undertones of red or blue.
Frances - do post a photo of your felted screen.
Marilyn - you could always start a sketch book!

The silk came out black and very dark green. I was using fiber reactive dye. I will do them again to see if I can get it black all over.

By coincidence, I had just purchased a packet of black iDye by Jacquard which dissolves in water. Claims vibrant color for 100% natural fabrics. They sell iPoly for anything other than natural fabric. I’ll let you know how it turns out, but it won’t be any time soon. ;-)

This "Screen Felting" was just a very quick shape to see how the felting would look on the screen- Yes I do drive to our Condo - it is about 6 1/2 hour drive - 340 miles - on a good day - we have to drive through Atlanta, GA which can be a traffic nightmare and that can add an hour on a bad day. We have an SUV with a large cargo area and a lift on the back for my hubby's mobility scooter. So I can take all my craft supplies without a problem. And I have to save room for the Bird and his cage . Also I do not take very many clothes as I find I wear the same 2 or 3 outfits when we go out. Around the condo it is yoga/sweat pants or shorts and t-shirt/sweat shirt depending on the weather. If I had to fly I would pack a large suitcase with supplies (thankfully they are not too heavy) and pay the $25 extra bag fee. I don't know if my family would turn over their kitchen counters to me for wet felting. Writing this reminded me I want to take my flower drying tiles (ceramic floor tiles) and try microwave drying some of the different foliage and flowers found there. Where are you flying to? I will leave the screen hanging on the porch and see if the birds pick at it. feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/t6lfqoyssaz7ijh1tsn2.jpg
