Thanks for the youtube link, Nada. Never would have thought of using them that way! And Zed, I can try pulling hankies apart, but are you adding other fibers to the hankies to make roving in the first photo? The colors are gorgeous!

Nada, thanks for the link the vests were beautiful. Looks like a lot of shrinkage.
Lyn, I agree Zed's silk roving pics are great.
I've pulled the silk hankies to use like pencil roving, it makes a pretty effect that is easier to control than trying to stretch them. But I like to do that as well or scrunch them up to make flowers.. I always love the added bling the silk gives a piece.

Hello Cathy, I have cut apart silk hankies to create waves in my purse. I have snipped the middle of the silk hankies and ladies them neatly over the roving in creating the Rose I made for my class. I have also laided them in the sea seascape I made and just wet the edges and then put a resist over them and after the felting process when I took the resist out I fluffy them up to give a 3 D effect for more waves. I really like experimenting with them.

Wow - everyone has been busy and I have not been on this week and have missed seeing all your great work - everything that has been posted is so lovely and inspiring. Monday I took a friend to the hospital for some tests then Tuesday I took some "pots with covers" to Garden Club and they were very well received - even sold two of them - then 1 day of taking my husband to 'well' doctor appoitments and another day took a friend to a Master Gardener Lecture on Iris. But today was my day to thoroughly enjoy - went to the Georgia Alpaca Festival (about 2 1/2 hours away) and saw some amazing fiber work and got to touch and feel roving before I purchased it (a firstfor me since my shopping has been done mail order). I got alpaca roving in about a dozen colors, some bamboo fiber, silk hankies and a couple of dyed silk scarves I plan to nuno felt. The wonderful woman (Rose of thunderriveralpacas.com)who got me started in felting was at the fest - she and her Alpacas have moved from my home town Cumming, GA to Pennsylvania so it was nice to see her again - Picture is of Rose and I in front of her booth an adorable 50's camper. — feeling fabulous.

What a wonderful day after your week of loving duties. It's great you were able to reconnect with your mentor. I look forward to seeing what you do with all that luscious alpaca. :-) congrats on your felted pot sales!

What a lovely day you must have had - I like the photo of you and Rose in front of her caravan. Your orange scarf looks great and I like the idea of ringing the changes by threading the chiffon through the holes.

How clever, Frances! Now you can wear your scarf in two different ways.

Hello Frances, what a super lovely scarf. Very very neat idea and the silk scarf is most beautiful even on it own. Rose's Alpaca booth is most unique too. I had a long look at her website and it is most impressive. I learned a lot about Suri Alpacas. Thanks for sharing the site with us.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time Frances - it's always nice to be able to see and feel what you are buying before you get it. The orange scarf is wonderful and it's a great idea to mix and match scarves to give them a different look.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about the pods. Nada, I'm so sorry to hear about the fair. I hope they have a "rain" date for you. You've worked so hard to prepare. :-( Zed, the bamboo is very striking. I'm amazed the texture you got in merino. Cathy, the hankie looks good. You can always scrunch it to make flower or stretch it to give a whole piece some shine and texture. Since silk doesn't felt, the edges remain solid and don't melt into the felt but give it texture. Experiment, it's fun. :-) do you have a picture of a silk hankie scrunched to make a flower? I am trying to visualize where the roving would be placed to attach it to the piece I am felting.
