Marilyn - you could always start a sketch book! Ruth, I was thinking just that, but I'm afraid I'll have wool withdrawal!

Yes I do drive to our Condo - it is about 6 1/2 hour drive - 340 miles - on a good day - we have to drive through Atlanta, GA which can be a traffic nightmare and that can add an hour on a bad day. We have an SUV with a large cargo area and a lift on the back for my hubby's mobility scooter. So I can take all my craft supplies without a problem. And I have to save room for the Bird and his cage . Also I do not take very many clothes as I find I wear the same 2 or 3 outfits when we go out. Around the condo it is yoga/sweat pants or shorts and t-shirt/sweat shirt depending on the weather. If I had to fly I would pack a large suitcase with supplies (thankfully they are not too heavy) and pay the $25 extra bag fee. I don't know if my family would turn over their kitchen counters to me for wet felting. Writing this reminded me I want to take my flower drying tiles (ceramic floor tiles) and try microwave drying some of the different foliage and flowers found there. Where are you flying to? Frances, it sounds as if you're very organized. We fly to Orlando in Florida and to LA in California. We used to fly into Atlanta when our son lived in NC so I understand your traffic dilemma very well. Not fun. We'll be staying in hotels for the most part. My CA son doesn't have counter space. However, our FL son does. I'm just not sure how my husband will feel about me staying in to felt unless he's off golfing. :-) I like your screen felt. It will be interesting to see if the birds help themselves. Thanks for sharing.

Marilyn - you could also make some felt pieces ahead of time and then take embroidery stuff to embellish them with. I usually make up a gallon sized ziplock bag with thread, small scissors (less than 4" goes through security), a needle and beads that all match. Then I have everything all in one place with what I need to finish a piece. Generally, I have several bags going at once but always have something to do in the airplane or driving. But I almost always take sketch book stuff because you can do that anywhere. I prepare background pages in advance (just a bit of acrylic paint to give the pages some color) and then I'm set to add whatever I feel like when traveling.
