I don't suggest trying to nuno anything higher than 8 MM. (MM standes for momme which is the weight of the silk, not milimeters). I haven't ordered that particular fabric from Dharma before. The one I like best for nuno felting is 3 MM. That said, you could make dyed scarves from the silk. I do a lot of ice or snow dyeing, depending on where you're from, and sell the scarves. They seem to sell fairly well and don't take a ton of work. Thank you Ruth - I didn't know about momme

Hi Caryn
16mm? That's 1.6cm. Should that read 1.6mm?
Sorry but I haven't used such a thick chiffon in nuno felting - maybe someone else has an answer for you.
Perhaps it could be used as a lining or in applique? Washed first though in case of shrinkage?

Love your work - it's so vibrant! Can't wait to see more of it.
p.s.When I clicked on the Visit Instagram links I was able to scroll through several photos not just the one.

The poncho is fabulous! Love it! Did you make the hat too because that's stunning.
Have you ever tried spot fulling? Wet down the fuzzy fibre area and just work on that for a bit? Or are the fuzzy fibres all over the poncho?
When you create a thread you will see an icon along the top that looks like a picture on a wall. If you hover over that it will say 'insert image' and when you click on it you can insert the url of the image. However the image needs to already be on another platform - I don't believe you can insert directly from your pc into a thread.

Welcome to the forum Caryn. Would love to see some of your work on here!
You can put images in a thread - there is an 'insert image' icon - you need the image url but you should be able to get that from your instagram postings.
p.s. I'm an internet dinosaur so I hope I've told you right - if not then someone will soon correct me!

I prefer to make several thinner layers because I find it easier to make 'even' felt that way.

The stool cover is so pretty and the colours are just right for a bathroom. Your way of fitting it is genius! The cover must make the stool more comfortable to sit on too.

This is just how I think: When the felt passes the pinch test (it passes when you can pinch a few fibres between your finger and thumb and gently lift - the fibres won't come away) the wool fibres have successfully meshed together. But at that point the felt is still weak and then needs fulling (rubbing, rolling or any other kind of agitating) to shrink and harden the felt.

Thank you for posting this Ann. Fascinating work and it's wonderful to see the artist so absorbed in it. Love it.

The cover may be scorched but it's preventing fingers getting burnt!

Yes Ann - a garment is a 'me' cover - great idea!
Caterina - a stool cover would be cool! But it sounds as if you have plenty of other things to cover.
