Hello Prairiesky! If the dreads are fulled (i.e. completely felted) then they should be ok and not need plastic. During the felting process just keep your eye on them and keep them free.
As for the locks, they can be needle felted on once the piece is dry, but I know we've had a member post a how-to on here attaching them during the felting, but I can't find it. I hope one of the moderators can remember it?

Informative and interesting - some very good pointers there. (I also like the artist's style of work.)

I've finished off the Halloween sweeties Ruth and I've let out my skirt waistband. I'm working on making my Christmas cards and I'm making a tea-cosy as a gift for a family member.

Hi Shana Sounds like a great place to live. I’m nowhere near but very intrigued by the item on the table n your photo that looks like a series of joined pods - a giant’s bracelet? Would love to see and hear more about it. That's a sculpture I started back in March and had to put aside. When it's done, it'll be as tall as I am The piece is actually one solid piece made to look like it's been popped together. All needle-felted so far, though I'll probably wet-felt it too. That's a lot of work Shana - but very satisfying I should think.

Your vessel is interestingly lovely Antje - I like the stitching you added to it.

The stall I bought the corriedale from belonged to a needle felter ... and it looks as though it would needle felt easier than the merino wool tops I have.
I understand that Norwegian C1 is good for making hard-wearing felt.

I expect Zed will know this one!
I've just bought a small amount of dyed 'corriedale' from a craft fair and it looks very much like yours - but as I work with merino 99.9% of the time, I don't qualify as a good judge!

I could see that image as a piece of textile art Lindsay!
I'm lucky as I have a large covered area in my garden that's great for drying the clothes even when the weather is typically British, and we don't often see the temperatures drop below zero here on the mid-south coast - I couldn't cope with Ann's weather!
