As we head into spring we spend more time enjoying the outdoors and spend less time indoors, so this challenge won't take up much indoor time at all! Challenge Details

Both links fascinating Ann, thank you. Loved the way you could look around the bees! (If you hold the mouse button down you can swing around inside the room easily.) The dress from maps is stunning.

Thanks, Lyn. I have taken a look at Karen's use of paper (wonderful results), but it seems to be mulberry paper, so I guess it is silk paper: I have made paper from recycled paper (mostly A4 printer paper, with some leaflets and envelopes thrown in, that kind of thing) without any silk or fabric fibers. My paper is quite thick, hardly pliable...think about white-ish egg cartons more than about delicate artsy stuff 🤣 is it going to be feltable if there is no silk in it, do you think? Or maybe I am doing something so silly that nobody else has tried it, so I should just go on with a sample 🤣 Maybe message Karen - she may have tried other paper?

That's the fun, and sometimes the frustration, of felting isn't it? Finding the best way to achieve the result you want

How lovely that your friend has found a new creative venture!
Your hat is very pretty - I love the colours and pattern - so do wear it as it suits you so well.
To work out why the shape wasn't regular, could it be perhaps because all the layers were in a ray pattern layout? When I made a large bowl using a circular resist I did 8 layers. Layers 1,3,5,7 were made in the ray pattern and layers 2,4,6,8 were made in a circular pattern.

All artists 'grow' and it must be quite common to look at some (not all) old work with dissatisfaction.
I like Ann's idea of the gallery explaining the journey.

I don't suggest trying to nuno anything higher than 8 MM. (MM standes for momme which is the weight of the silk, not milimeters). I haven't ordered that particular fabric from Dharma before. The one I like best for nuno felting is 3 MM. That said, you could make dyed scarves from the silk. I do a lot of ice or snow dyeing, depending on where you're from, and sell the scarves. They seem to sell fairly well and don't take a ton of work. Thank you Ruth - I didn't know about momme

Hi Caryn
16mm? That's 1.6cm. Should that read 1.6mm?
Sorry but I haven't used such a thick chiffon in nuno felting - maybe someone else has an answer for you.
Perhaps it could be used as a lining or in applique? Washed first though in case of shrinkage?
