I put the Pinterest link on my blog. I don't care what they pin. I am always changing everything I do so often that it makes your head spin. I don't care who copies me. I only sell at galleries and exhibits. I sell nothing online. I am free of all the jealousy problems that happen with competition. I have people who copy what I do, and I help them any way I can. Everything I know, I learned from others. Like people here on this forum. But, I do not copy anyone's work. I only use their techniques to create my own original ideas. There is such a thing as ethics.

Zed, I read your links and they were very interesting, however the Pinterest terms of service were changed as of April 6, making some of this irrelevant. Having said that, I do understand there are people who do not wish people to pin their pictures and I have stopped pinning anything at this point unless the site specifically says pinning is allowed. I think it's sad, but .......

Oh, I didn't know that, Pam. I think it was in that article where I read that Pinterest own the copyright to something pinned and can make money off it, but I can't see how that could possibly be true, copyright doesn't transfer just by use. It did seem like the company was ready to reap benefits and not support pinners, which isn't fair.

I forgot to say earlier, there are lots of sites on the internet whose whole point is collecting photos from across the web, sites like buzzfeed, or collegehumor, there's even ones dedicated to cats, dogs etc, and they pretty much fill their posts with collected images of a common theme. I often see something posted like 'I do not own the copyright to this image, I've tried to give credit where possible, if you are the owner of the image and would like it removed, please contact us' etc Also, tumblr and imgur are very like pinterest with user collections.

Yes, I have a sitemeter on my blog that records where the traffic to my blog comes from. I find my work on all kinds of sites, including Google images. I say, if you don't want your work out there, don't put it on the internet. The resolution on my images is not good enough for people to enlarge and print copies for sale. The images would just degrade into pixels. They can, however, put them on a website that they build for advertising.

When I was reading the post from the lawyer, she mentioned a court case where someone tried to sue google for using thumbnails of her images. And she aslo mentioned fair use, using a photo for research, criticism etc, and I thought I'd rather have a few photos on pinterest with people Oohing and Aahing, than being ripped to shreds
