I don't know if I'm going to like it or not yet, but I've joined 'pinterest'. I noticed from rosiepink's blogstats that we've had quite a few re-directions from pinterest and I discovered that someone had pinned our felted pod tutorial picture up so it was 'doing the rounds'. So I pinned up some photos from Felting and Fiber Blog a few hours ago in the hope that they would get spotted and lead people to the blog. Already two people have spotted Ann's nuno felted shawl and re-pinned it. I don't know whether they also looked at the blog, but it's a start. The photos I pinned from the felting and fiber blog are: Ann's nuno felted shawl, Zed's wet felted book cover and Kaz's stitched modern portrait. I also pinned Zed's curly white pod and Ruth's stitched postcard. I don't know if this link will work if you're not signed in to pinterest, but here it is: pinterest.com/rosiepinkfelt/my-style/

Hi Lyn I noticed from flickr that I get some views from Pinterest, sometimes I follow the link and see the other collections, it can be interesting. I had a look at the site stats and it show that we have had a click from there Thanks for doing that. I like your picture that you added

I have heard lots of chatter about Pinterest but haven't checked it out yet. I just can't seem to keep up with all this social media stuff Thanks for pinning our photos, that was nice of you to "market" our blog.

Ann - I've just had a look. The picture has 2 repins marked on it but they're 'greyed out' so that when you click on them there's no information.
I'm still thrashing about on pinterest and not really knowing what I'm doing yet.
Someone 'pinned' our pod tutorial photo months ago and it still brings in interest so the photos obviously keep going round and around.
I'm working on the principle that if you fire enough arrows at the target, one will surely hit home. So I'll regularly 'pin' your blog photos - your never know.
I'm hoping that if I pin regular photos from the felting and fiber blog, that it will draw some attention.

Ooooooh, I've got a lot to learn.
Ann - I can see who re-pinned if I go to another screen! It was Vicki Johnson and Michelle Fackler-Turner.

ok I see, when you click it it shows you where it went. I had a look, one had some very cool hair braids in the group with my shawl. I am with Ruth, I can hardly keep up with all the things you can join and do. Thanks again.

Ann - Perhaps someone else will look at those people's pages and re-pin your shawl from there and so it goes on.
I really do have a job to keep up too - when I went to school we still had inkwells in our desks.
My daughter lives 40 miles away, so we keep in daily touch through email. In the last couple of months she's dragged me further into the 21st century by getting me to use 'dropbox' and signing up for a gmail account so that I can share documents with her through google docs and so that we can communicate live through google talk.
Modern technology is wonderful and I wouldn't want to be without it now, but there are times when I think wistfully of how peaceful life was without it.

I started Pinterest about a week ago and really thought the same as all of you, but......I really like it. They start you off with pre-named folders that you can add to or delete. I can surf the web and when I find something I like, I can "pin it" to a certain folder - like Inspiration. I can then find my way back to that exact site again by clicking on the picture and following the link. Also, on the Pinterest site you can search for different picture topics, like felting, art felting, nuno felting, embroidery, etc. You will then see all kinds of pictures of that subject. Click on an interesting picture and follow the link to the site. You can also "repin" the original picture to one of your folders and will always be able to find it. The interesting site I posted about this morning came from a picture on Pinterest that I followed to the woman's site. To me it's a time-saver, rather than a time-waster.

I've deleted my pinterest account.
Nothing wrong with pinterest - in fact it's fascinating!
BUT it takes too much time and my inbox is always flooded with updates.
We are constantly bombarded with all manner of wonderful things but we can't possibly do it all. I'm in an 'organise-my-time-better' mood today and I'm having a clear-out.
By the way Ruth, in the last few days your Kantha sampler has been re-pinned from my page twice so it could be halfway round the globe now on pinterest!

Thanks Lyn, I agree that the computer can take over your life. I have to limit my time as well.

Lyn, I agree that at first I was overwhelmed with all the email, but there is a place on your account settings that allow you to turn off the email notification. That is what I did and now I get nothing from them.

I have been on Pinterest for a while now. You will get more traffic if you use the "Pin It" button to pin directly from your blog. If you download pictures from your computer into Pinterest, it will not have a link to follow. You must then, type the link in when it is uploaded. I have gotten some interesting followers from Pinterest. I only get on it when I sit down to watch the news. It is dead time anyway. I use it for PR and for inspiration. Just entered an oil painting into a show. I used a photo from Pinterest for inspiration. There are a lot of copywrite laws being disputed. Pinterest is being sued by some artists.
