I hadn't heard of a merkin either. That's hysterical! We learn all kinds of things here don't we. I'm with you Frances. I don't think I'd watch that as wel!

Zed - you've reminded me of a pod I made in the early days. It had a white interior but the exterior was a coarse black wool. Now, we all know that fibres migrate, and that coarse ones migrate spectacularly - all I could see as I peered into the pod was a merkin. Lesson learned.

I felted it onto some white merino yesterday, and it actually worked well. It still looks odd though. I'll try and get photos later.

I've been traveling and haven't been able to felt. However, my daughter in law and I went to an independent fabric store yesterday in Orlando and salivated over some really lucisous fabrics. Unbeknownst to us, they had a special Black Friday sale that started at 2 p.m. We arrived just in time. As we had our goodies cut, the clerk announced we'd get an additional 20% off! I love sales! This store had a decent selection of silks at a reasonable price. Here is my goodie stash. The photo quality isn't great from the iPad. Sorry. From the left there is tealish silk chiffon, gray organza, gold polyester chiffon and a remnant of unknown origin. The purple fat quarter is cotton and the red remnant is organza. The gold will be used for a wall hanging for my daughter in law. The rest???

Ahh--Great scoop Marilyn! That must have been fun. I am a serious fabric lover, particularly cotton and silk. Oh well, partial to quality woolens as well. Bet you’ll be nuno-felting with that teal chiffon.

They look really nice, Marilyn Abakhan are having a sale from the 27th of next month, I can't wait! I just took some photos of my Merkin attached to white Merino, it reshaped itself to be more of a diamond and less of a triangle, so it still looks odd, but less merkinish

It could be made into a beard such as this from 'Wife of Brian' website.

Thanks Zed, Ann and Judy. Judy, the white is actually gray. I have no idea what I'll use that one for. But I couldn't pass up 4 yards for a dollar. :-)

Way to go on the fabric Marilyn! Zed - it kind of looks like hair in a silhouette shape. Just add a line of stitching on the bottom right to add the face, nose, lips and chin And then it could be one of the Beatles.
