Thanks, Frances--safe traveling!
Thanks, Judith…ah, the late 60’s--nothing like it! The music, the fashion, the creativity, the protests…
Marilyn, so glad you framed and hung your autumnal piece, just lovely!

Thanks Frances, safe travel!
Thanks Lyn, the pile of pictures is bigger than the pile of burlap. Yes, burlap is big today even for weddings. I'm sure I could find a use for what I have left over. Thanks fir the suggestion. My son is an artist, teacher and video game designer. He made several vases while in school I have spread around my house. Ceramics was just one of the venues he experimented with along the way.
Thanks Zed. The picture doesn't do the alcove justice. The faux paint has a nice texture I believe the woman put five or six layers on there and used a towel to blend and pattern it. I probably should have something taller in the vase to take advantage of the space.
Thanks for the nudging Cathy!

Great job on the framing of the autumn piece. I have a pile of stuff that needs to be framed as well. I think it's my least favorite part of making something is figuring out the framing etc. I guess I should just choose a method and do it the same way each time. I have been doing a small bit on my caricature people each day. Update soon

It looks great where you've put it Marilyn. you could try nuno felting a piece of burlap to see what texture you get.

Thanks Ruth! I agree framing is not a favorite part of the process for me either. Many of my pieces are odd sizes on top of it. Eventually, I'll,figure out what to do with them. :-). I look forward to seeing your progress on the caricature.
Thanks Ann! I have several colors of burlap, so I may try to do some testing with it perhaps with a coarser wool base. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks Judy, I'll be sure to tell him. I love the "old" chipped texture of it.

Your autumn pic. has turned out really well Marilyn and looks great on the dark blue wall - complimentary colours. Is burlap what we call hessian?

My daily dose was making shrugs. These were 2 large rectangles that had been sewn into batwing jackets and then resewn into kimono style sleeve jackets. they did not generate much interest in either configuration. Now I cut holes in for your arms to go through and refelted them and will dye them. I di 3 of them for my last fiber sale and although I didn't sell any( I may have priced them a bit high) but they did get lots of looks and wonderful comments. I wore one and will be keeping it for my self I think. Unless someone wants to buy it off my back. I sold 2 scarves I was wearing at the last show.

Thanks Judith. The wall with autumn is actually a deep bronze color in the brown green family. The alcove wall is a deep moss color. I guess the photos arent really true colors.
Yes, hessian is burlap.

This is a shrug jacket. It is really a vest. forgive the bad pictures and the scowling. I was looking into the sun and for some reason I am all red in the picture I tried to fix it but I kept loosing the red of the vest too. I thought it might be the red of the vest but my other vest is brown and I am all red too.
This one is the vest I am wearing in the pictures on the blog today. i made this several years ago. it was vey boxy when it was made. with the help of a friend who is an expert sewer we reshaped it so it fit much better. the back picture is the true colour.
