Very nice shrugs, Ann! Have never made that type of garment but looks like a bit of work.

The red one is quite simple. it is just a big rectangle I put the slits in near the end so I don't have to worry about shrinkage. the vest was much more complicated. it was made seamlessly. I had to have an extra piece on the front so that I could overlap the front so it would overlap when done. so 3 widths really, one back and 2 fronts. I wouldn't do it that way again. I would make peices or yardage and sew it. You get a much better fit and making the felt is so much easier.

I totally agree. Making seamless garments seems to popular with felt makers but the fit you get isn't very good most of the time. Making yardage, using a pattern and then sewing makes much more sense to me too.

Very nice shrug Ann. It seems like it would be a challenge to make.

My daily dose is a pet portrait that I needle-felted a few months ago, but which I just framed this afternoon for a charity event in Chicago to be held on this Saturday. I am a sucker for any cause which involves animals or young children. Pet Portrait by catwycliff, on Flickr

Thanks, ladies! The portrait is modeled after one of my two adopted cats (“Sidecar”). I keep a small bag of various pet-shaded fibers just for this purpose.

The portrait is great Cathy. It's great you donate your time and art to good causes. I'm sure it will find a nice home with a fellow cat lover. :-)

I am settled in our Condo in Amelia Island - have not unpacked my felting supplies yet - have spent the last week unwinding, visiting our favorite restaurants and thinking about the 4th Quarter Challenge and the flower show designs i am sumitting into a Garden Club Flower Show. The show is not until June but I like to plan ahead. Someone asked for pictures - these are outside views - our Condo is on the 4th floor and the Sunrise was taken from our balcony this am. View of Beach - standing on Pier Courtyard - back of building Fishing Pier - it is private an only accessible to residents of our Condos Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach, Florida, USA is located in the Northeast corner of the state about 30 miles north of Jacksonville Florida. It is the birthplace of the shrimp industry in the US. The oldest bar in Florida is located is here. Many victorian homes dating from the 1800 and early 1900 hundreds are on the historial register. It was under 8 different flags during its early days. The downtown area has been perserved and houses shops and restaurants as well as the origianl pier. The Atlantic Ocean is on the east side of the Island and the St John's River on the west side. You gain access to the island from the North via bridge and from the south via ferry or bridge. The beach is never crowded except maybe 4th of July week - beautiful trails and wildlife through canopies of oaks. My little piece of Paradise.
