I was just thinking it would be cool to see what everyone was making for Christmas this year. Of course, if it is for the holiday exchange, you can't show it until your swap partner sees it. But are you making anything this year? I made a cat cave for my sister (and her new cat) but I'll show you that soon on the blog. Or you could show us some gifts you have made in the past. Here are a few presents I made in prior years. Felted and Machine Stitched Bag Notebook Cover Stitched Notebook Felted and Stitched Wall Hanging

They are all lovely, but the wallhanging is divine.
A few years back most of the family agreed to a non-Christmas-present holiday, except for children up to the age of 18. It's great and makes the season relaxing instead of stressful. However, it does mean that I don't have anything to show on this thread!

I like them all, but the bag and the wall hanging are my favourites. We only give to immediate family and some years ago we put a price limit on gifts. Then the grandchildren came along and they are exempted though we still don't go mad and only send cards to those we won't see over the Christmas period, mainly to those abroad. I never know what to do with all the cards we receive - frankly they drive me nuts! Yes, Ebeneezer is my middle name!! lol

I gave my mom a hat this year. Its not really a Christmas present and she already has it so no picture. I don't usually make gifts. They never seem to be appreciated. Everyone is adult now so not much in the way of presents is needed.

Not necessarily needing presents Ann, but I gave one of my flower pins to my Bridge partner last night as it was her birthday and she was, or indeed appeared to be, genuinely thrilled with it! It all depends to whom it is given. She likes my stuff and has put up with my sub standard Bridge playing for many years!!! "Horses for courses" perhaps.

It's family more than anything else. Not immediate family but the others. My daughter will get the fingerless mitts she wanted. I sold the ones she liked so she thinks she won't get them. I am making her another pair.

I'm feeling decadent with all my gift giving and all of you so relaxed and not "needing" any presents. So perhaps you could post presents you have made in the past for other occasions. Surely someone has made a present and still has a photo.

I've only fairly recently started to take photos of things I've made, so don't have any from the past.

Same as Judith with regard to photographing personal makes. When I was making gifts for Christmas I never gave a thought to photos - they were pre-digital days so that may have something to do with it as the camera only came out on 'occasions'.

I get the same impression as you, Ann, they're not appreciated by family, I even had a nasty comment from one of my sisters once along the lines of 'I hope you're not making anything for me', so no, I won't be spending 2 hours laying out wool and fibres, an hour felting or 8 hours stitching while my eyes burn and flicker if I get a look of 'oh, you couldn't be bothered buying me a present so you gave me something you made'. The diary I made my friend recently was very well received, he must have said 'Wow!' about 6 times and said it was amazing My girlfriend always appreciates gifts, these are some one of her favourites: Coaster by zedster01, on Flickr Gardening Notebook by zedster01, on Flickr vessel A by zedster01, on Flickr

Well, I made a lot of these little pin cushions from felt and beads and ribbon. Then every party I planned to go to got canceled because of the weather. I am pretty bummed out. I worked so hard to prepare for a big open house for our fine arts guild and it had to be canceled. Now, my trip to see my newest great grandchild may have to be canceled also.
