Zed, its unfortunate your sister doesn't appreciate the time and talent that goes into your work. It's good you got a bunch of "wows" from your friend. You do wonderful work, it should be appreciated.
Judy, the pincushion is darling. I'm sorry the events got canceled. I hope your trip to see new baby doesn't. I'm planning to see my grandsons next week and hope the weather cooperates, too.

Zed - I have had similar reactions from family members. I usually don't make anything for family anymore unless they request something. But it is great to see the reactions of people who appreciate your work.
Judy - sorry about the weather. It's been really cold and snowy here but we are used to that so we just keep going with whatever is planned. I realize that many southern areas are not prepared for cold and snow and don't have the resources to get everything plowed etc. Hope you get to visit with the new baby.

Zed - your stuff is fab and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
Judy - I love the pin cushions and I sympathise with your weather problem - if we get ten flakes of snow here everything grinds to a halt because it's not worth the local council spending money to prepare for an occasional problem.

Zed I am glad you do have someone that appreciates your work. You do great stuff. Judy the pin cushions are great. As Judith said you will be well ahead for next year. I thought of something everyone in the family likes that I make. Wheat bags. the bags you put in the microwave and heat up to use on sore mussels or instead of a hot water bottle. I got a request for one this year.

My daughter and one of my sons are not lovers of felt, but that's OK. Felting is not the only string to my bow. Zed, it's all a matter of taste - your sister is perhaps lacking in this department! Your gifts look very giveable to me! I especially love your gardening book, in fact I might do something like that with the skeleton leaves I made.

I have been busy. I've made a couple of scarves, pincushions, snowballs and pictures as gifts. feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/2013-12-13-10-37-29.jpgfeltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/fi1jmbzdeymuzhcfe4wv.jpgThe scarves are merino/silk with prefelt in between layers. Since they are for men, I wanted something more sturdy than cobweb. The felted snowballs are for my grandsons who live in FL. The four year old was in Chicago with us two years ago and is familiar with snow, he asked his parent recently when it would start to snow now that it's Christmas time. So, I decided to make fake snow balls, have my son spritz them and freeze them so they have a little taste of snow in FL for Christmas. They are foam balls covered with merino and a touch of Angelina fiber to make them sparkly. I hope it works. :-) It will be fun to watch. I finished one picture and a pincushion which I sent to Sulasmom for the exchange and I'm working on another for my daughter in law. Since she's a crafter, I think she'll appreciate it. We'll see.

Love the scarves and the snowballs are inspirational - what a great idea to spritz and freeze them. I'm sure he'll be thrilled!

The scarves are indeed manly and they are far better than any I've seen for sale in the shops. They will be very much admired and appreciated. The snow balls are great!

Lovely scarves and they are masculine. I've made snowballs before but never thought to wet them and freeze them, that's a great idea.

Thanks everyone! I'll let you know how the snowballs work out. They should last about a minute and a half in Florida. :-)

I just finished the last project for the year. I had intended it to be a Christmas present for my daughter in law, but I think I'll save it for her birthday instead. It is a reflective sunset scene of Lake Apopka near their home. These trees sit in the water hence the reflection of the sky. feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/2eashbmrrg6g1rwbwizl.jpgBefore felting feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/cejrifnsfe7d8rlemfk_.jpg After felting I used two layers of black prefelt as a base and covered it with merino. There is a touch of yellow tencel in the yellow sky and I used black throwsters waste for the fine branches. I could have used this for the fourth quarter challenge as well. My husband said it looked halloweenish. But the scene came from a beautiful picture. :-) It finished at about 15 x 11" and I plan to mount it on a black 12x16 canvas. If that doesn't look good, I'll go to plan B. :-) I still have to mount it which is why I'll wait to give it as a gift. My time has run out!

I think it turned out wonderful Marilyn - The depth/distant sky are gorgeous. And I don't think it's "halloweenish" - these husbands say the darndest things don't they? I think mounting it on a black canvas will be perfect. Do show us a photo of how you finish it if you can. We always get questions about finishing and framing.
