Using the black base has really achieved the sunset effect well and the throwsters waste makes good fine branches. Wonderful! I hope the black mount works - in theory it should do.

Thanks Ruth. Yes, they do! It's a good thing I've been married king enough to ignore it. :-). I'll post pictures once I finish mounting it.

Thanks Lyn. I hope the black canvas works too. It will be interesting. I wasn't sure how I'd get those fine branches, I was happy with the throwsters waste, too. The finished piece looks a little darker in the picture. We haven't had a lot of sun here lately.

I like it. I think it turned out really well. Husbands do say the strangest things at times.

Looks great Marilyn! As Ruth says, please let us see it again when it's mounted.

Thanks Zed. Of course I chose an unusual size so it looks like il be painting a white canvas black. :-)

Wow!! 17 pairs of slippers!! That's a marathon. They look good too. Did you apply extra soles (for harder wear) to those with separate tops and bottoms? Love the flowers and the mittens look great too! It seems you have the same addiction as the rest of us and I'm afraid it's incurable!

Koffipot, yes, I applied extra soles (foam + leather) to make them non-slippable. I have a shoemaker here who is kind enough to machine stitch the foam and leather together, my husband punches holes and in the end I stitch them together. It's quite a lot of work, more than with one piece slippers. And yes, I have become totally addicted. I need to pull myself back every day.

The slippers are fab (17 pairs - wow!) as are the mitts - I like the tassel detail and the flower pattern on the black ones below it. Beautiful door garland too.

Halay, I envy you your shoemaker!! I've just made some really thick (10mm) Norwegian slippers and had hoped to machine the leather and felt soles together before applying them to the tops. However, the felt is so thick I couldn't get it under the machine foot - even with extra lift. So hand stitching it had to be, I did put holes in the leather first. I then blanket stitched them together, didn't like it, unpicked it all and used saddle stitch, which gave a nice welt. No pics I'm afraid, as they're wrapped and despatched!

Some nice soles there zed, but it does push the price up quite a bit! I'm a skinflint and recycled leather.

Lovely work Halay. I agree 17 sets of slippers is quite ambitious. I like the one with the little lift on the back and flower in the toe. All the mitts are cute as well as the scarves. I love the colors and little details. The flower wreath is also a great idea. I look forward to seeing more.
