Judith, if you put a quid in a jar every time you got green with envy over a drum carder, you'd have enough for half of one by now Cathy, when I was blending wool tops for scarf batts, and wanted them as smooth as possible, I realised that the carder took the wool smoother if I fed it in wispy end first. Not so easy when it's set up for being right handed and you pull the wool tops off right handed, it does add a certain amount of faff which slows it down.
