I made a hat today so I guess that's an upside down pod. it is pinned and drying on the porch. You will see it in my next blog post.

Thanks Nada! I will have to try the nepps with the coarse wool, I know they don't work well with merino unless you half bury them. ;-) I look forward to seeing your pod.

Great pods! I have more company so am just getting in very small doses of fiber each day. Working on writing up an artist statement for a show. Not as much fun as making a pod though.

Guess the pods have it! And the pods are having all the fun, too! I am pod-shy but will get over it soon. In the meantime, my last circle is drying and then I will show photos of all.

The small, soft nepps attach to the merino wool fibres ok, but it's the large, hard ones that are the challenge! It's a bit fiddly but you can rough up the underside of the large nepps (use a couple of pairs of tweezers - one to hold and one to rough-up) also a few fibres over the top will trap it - literally a few, maybe 4 or 5 fibres. Soft nepps will felt into merino without being buried or trapped - proof below - I've never used so many nepps in one piece...ever!

Lyn it seems that we have the same neps but mine get trapped only in coarse wool (not merino):-(

I started making circles this week with no particular plan in mind, except that they will not end up as pillow covers. Most of the circles are about 16 inches diameter. I enjoyed decorating them with thick and thin wool yarn, as well as roving twists. Some of the embellishments were needle-felted on after wet-felting the circles. Untitled by catwycliff, on Flickr

Cathy, Flickr says the picture is private and won't let me see it.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I love your picture. Thanks formshowing us what's possible. Perhaps I need more patience. :-)

Cathy, the circles look good, but as Ann said I couldn't enlarge because it's private.

I am editing pictures to the instructions in a kit does that count as a daily dose?

Nepps....never liked them! Tried to needlefelt them once--total disaster.
I was thinking of an installation, Carole, perhaps stringing them up as a giant wall banner OR making a giant mobile to hang from the ceiling.
Yes, Ann, even fooling around with some fiber photos can be considered a daily dose!

I am out of town for a few days visiting a relative in need, so all I took with me was some embroidery work. Several weeks ago, I felted a city view of skyscrapers, so I am adding hand embroidery for definition. Will photograph and post when back to Chicago.

I took my book cover with me, so that's what I've been doing when I get a few moments -- blanket stitches, my favorite. ;-)
