As Ann says, there are many ways to felt and nunofelt. People have different ways of working. I don't use much commercial prefelt because it is expensive. I also don't roll that much either. Usually when the wool starts to penetrate the silk, I stop rolling. Then I full in a different method. I also do a lot of rubbing on the silk side to encourage the fibers to migrate through the silk. But it is nice to try different ways and see which you like and which you don't. Hi MTRuth, you say : I full in a different method. What do you mean by that, I thought it is always just throwing ?

Two lovely sweaters. Glad to have another spinner/knitter on board. I see you use circular needles, I'm trying very hard to get used to these, but still prefer either dpn or straight. I'm also trying to knit Continental style and I'm making progress - after 60 odd years of English 'throwing'. There, I've revealed my age!!!! Old dogs can learn new tricks! I am trying to do the Continental style also, m.youtube.com/watch?v=XuRLFl36tDY, gives a good example. Knitting is easier than purl for me . I have to pay more attention on the tension because the work will get looser , special when I do the purl work. With circular needles and you only have to knit, than it is fantastic. I love to make the Norwegian round necklaces, cardigan, with all their beautifull patterns and colors. Because we love to travel with our camper in the Scandinavians we went to Uddevalla to the Bohuslans museum and there I bought a packet to knit a jumper designed by Kerstin Olsson 1963 updated by Solveig Gustafsson 2006. It was 50% merino and 50% angora. The name is : Bla Blomman (Blue flower). I became totally in love with those necklages and see what happened: The first one is mine bla blommen When I have to use serveral colors I am still knitting the Europian way because than I know that the threads are right on the backside. It is just when having a second language, when it becomes seriously then I'll fall back on the mother language.

I got inspired by an example of Filzfun. Making a wrist-wallet for juwelery or secret things. So, I wanted to make something like that for my niece. She goes often to those crowded events with her boyfriend. It could be easy to take your entrance tickets with you or money instead of a bag. I worked this morning with a resist, foam this time, piece of silk material and some 'golden' net (Christmastime). I tryed some French knots and an other stitch (?) I have seen those at your site by MTRuth It was 30cm long, it schrunk till 21,5 a little bit too much, it had to be 23. I think it 'll fit her. Attachments:

I pimped the dull side with little beads and gave him an eye. He is now a member of the pack !

A whole lot of stitches !! Some sites I have seen before, but very nice that I always can find them here. Those stitches can give your work the finishing touch.

Thanks for the reply's I learned a lot this time: This time I made the shape of the lips already in the resist. Next time I 'll not use such material as resist because it is not very handy but wiht those beads it wasn't possible to roll either. I was disapointed that the piece wiht the prefelt and beads didn't turn out as I wanted to be, I thought it would better felt to the main fish. I saw through the hole of the eye that it didn't attached so much as I thought it would, that is also the reason why I only popped up the beads otherwise the whole prefelt would fall out. And I think I 'll still give him a better eye.

My question is : what is the difference of felting inside out or felting outside in? What is the reason doing that except getting frustrated? I was looking at some video's where resist was being used, like brick and stones/cracked earth or mud. I wanted to use that for my second fish, for the scales of the fish. I have to work that out and have to think as the negatives of a photagrapher. But before that I got inspired by a video of making a vessel (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fm6qmoxSgis). So I start working and used some prefeld within beads as I wanted to use like sibori felting and I used some other surprises. I can understand that you use to know where to place those embalecements, not at the bottem! Therefore you put a marker of filt so you know where to cut for the opening. Oke, the first orange vessel was good enough for me. I wanted to make the second one with the embalecements and different colors . I put no marker.... Stupid, stupid, stupid. And for the second time (first time with slippers) I made the same mistake, made the cut at the wrong side. If I want to see the embalecements I have to turn the vessel inside out, close the hole at bottem, cut a new one and than I can reveale the embalecements, otherwise they are at the wrong position. I am very curious, but I let it be, because this vessel looks so well. I prefer making a new one than turn this one around. So... My question still is; what is the profit of working inside out wich is confusing?

Done...0,9kg. This was thick spun. Mostly I spin thin and than it is difficult to spin thick. That swaeter beneath isn't plyed (plyd?) say twisted, but also from sheepswool.

I suppose it might be. he didn't seem to be spinning it very evenly but perhaps that was on purpose. I wonder if he plies it. Yes, that is on purpose, that is why it is called 'clouds'. They use it to make scarfs and colls.
