Looks great! I've been meaning to make oven mitts for years. Mine is an old double one with the pads of a new double one sewn on. The old one was wearing out, but the new one was rubbish.
Can you hang the mitt upside down to stop it getting crumbs in? That's the thing I hate!

Aaw, thanks Liza I hope you find it useful It's hard to remember all the techniques we've covered or linked to but if I think of any, I'll add them. I agree with Marilyn, though, you can't beat experimenting. Actually, that made me think, a lot of our challenges have involved surface design and experimenting with techniques, you might find something there, this is the list of posts: feltingandfiberstudio.com/category/challenges/And, that has to be the first time our accent has been called 'delightful'! So thanks for that too

I don't have a tutorial, or even a pic that I can find, but I made one with a front panel, back panel, and a strip which became the two sides and the bottom. I worked it out so the panel was the same width as the zip, so it was more like a box.
My daily doses the last couple of days have been getting out 'the box', and sorting the felt pieces into what they'll be useful for and have chosen some to make into purses.

Very nce, Tracey Yeah, don't use those sponge scourers on the iron when it's hot, only an idiot would do that! Something metallic and sharp is good for scraping plasticy stuff off while the iron is hot

Are you sure? All of those will grow here in the UK and we have a shorter growing season than most of the US.

A pair of socks eventually would be great! I thought a hat would be a good start, but I'd be happy with just short arm warmers/a tube to start with. I just don't even know where to begin to look and when I've tried i don't really know what I'm looking at! Leonor's kindly offered to explain it like I'm 5, so I might be able to make more than a knitted rectangle some time this year! It's good to know there are short loop circulars though

I know it's well past your cut off date, but if you still have them, you could offere them to a local school or well-being centre.

My only doses of fibre have been weekly lately at the well-being group. For the newbies we're working up to vessels, so last week we used resist strips to understand how resists work and yesterday we used a resist to make pouches, though I finished mine off over a bottle to keep my drinks cool in summer.

What are dpns? That's a good tip about starting on normal needles first. Leonor is going to help me when I have the time to give it proper attention. I might get up to the level where the knitting group can help me!

That is bizarre! You can even see the identations of the bubblewrap bubbles. It looks like a photogram. Could it be a combination of the chemicals used? My first thought was borax crystals, but it does look like a print of the bubblewrap on the black. I didn't do enough chemistry at school to help, sorry.

I'm the same as Marilyn, I can only guess what I'd do, and that would be to do the seams like Lyn/Rosiepink do their vessels, with wisps over the edge I don't know about all wools, but Merino is insulating, so it's warm on a cold day, and cool on a warm day. And antibacterial. It's used for hiking/biking gear. I noticed one day last summer, stood baking in the sun ... UKers, remember that day we had Summer? ... and I had a little camera bag on, I moved it to the side to get something out of my pocket, and there was a small cool patch on my shorts where the bag had been. My back was sweaty where my synthetic little back pack was.

It depnds what I'm making. If I'm making a scarf with just wisps or fibre in certain places, then I put the fabric down first. If I'm making something like a piece for a purse or book cover, I do the wool layout first and put the fabric on top.
