Thanks everyone.. I really enjoy making the flowers now time to try the brooch. Nada I checked your link and love the red and black flowers. They look very detailed. Is it all fiber or did you add fabric in there? What do you use as the stiffener? I'd like to try that. Any suggestion you can give for improvement would be greatly appreciated since this will be my first time making the brooch. thanks

Hello everyone. Wanted to share another flower I made for my sister-in-law's birthday. I made a poppy using one layer only, then added a separate stem. I added an 18gg wire inside the stem so it can stand easily in a case. I affixed the stem to the flower before finishing so it's permanently attached. I think it might be an easier way to do this as it takes a little more work, but I enjoyed making. Part of the stem is visible through the top of flower where I felted the yellow. In finishing, I embroidered using a French knot on the yellow. My sister in law loved it.

Thanks Ruth, but I don't have anyone who I can split an order with.

Thanks Ruth and Ann. I think I will try World of Wool, and even RH Lindsay for white. Is RH Lindsay wool already washed?

What fiber does everyone use for needle felting? What is your preferred resource? Understand World of Wool is good from reading through some previous threads, but what about competitive pricing? thanks for your advise!

thanks everyone for your comments on the fiber for bags. I am going to order some different fibers and make up some samples. The first bag I made I had used merino to make the outside embellishments and noticed recently that they are pilling a bit (I believe it was pre felts i used). This time if I'm going for the outer embellishments I will try a course fiber in colors. The c1/pelsul fiber holds up well, but again it's only heather colors I've been able to find and looking for bright colors. I will share my updates at a later point.

I just realized that I meant to ask about felt bags not hats. I use merino for my hats so far and like it, bbbut might try some new options based on your response. Does anything change for those making bags.
Thanks again!

Thanks everyone. I am going to look at some new options. I have not ordered any fiber outside of the U.S before, but did place a recent order to an Etsy supplier from Germany and received my package really fast, and in good condition.

What is everyone's favorite fiber to use for wool hats? I have used Bergschaf from DHG, and c1/pelsull wool from NEFS. Both works fine, and very durable, but not available in wide color variety. thanks Josephine

Thanks everyone. I do love making the flowers. Where do you buy the little brooch piece if you want to make some into pins?

All valid points and appreciate the feedback. I have decided not to offer the needle felting and stick to wet felting flowers, landscape and smaller projects. I am still working with the girl in the class now and she's working alongside an adult or me at all times so we're keeping an eye on her.

I created another flower using one of the videos previously shared and worked with 2 students in class to create their 1st flower. Planning to do more in my Spring 2016 classes. Not the best pictures, but I think you can see them ok.
