Hello everyone, I hope you're able to open this image. I saved to my dropbox to get a link. The stitching will be along the outer edge. thanks Josie

Dear All, Thanks for all the comments and feedback. Thanks Catrina for sharing your work with embroidery. Very cool. In my case the embroidery is on the edge. I noticed the cotton embroidery thread I tried so far seems to disappear so I will take Lyn's advise and check my knitting yarn. Since it's along the edge this maybe my best solution. I will share my wrap with you in a separate message and again after I redo the embroidery.

Hello felters and those who embroider, When you hand stitch on wool felt what thread do you use and why? I have done machine stitching using both cotton and rayon, depending on the look I want. I’m making ruffle scarves now and want to hand embroider the edge. Is cotton ok or would you use something else? Looking for pros and cons? Thanks Josie

Now this sounds interesting. I'm sure Jan would found this interesting. Is she the same Jan who lives in Canada?
On a side note, I did a recent study group with Jan and 3 others to study different gg wires for armatures. It was great and I learned a lot from Jan.

Someone asked me if I wanted to have some.llama for felting. I have never felted with this before but did find info in Ruth's book and this site. Does anyone use it or is it something I should pass on. I'm not sure what guard hairs are other than what I read in the Dictionary but it sounds like I would have to do something with the fiber before I use it. It it too much trouble? Your thoughts!

thanks ladies for your valuable feedback. I know I can always come to this forum when I have questions and get lots of feedback. I have some wool so i will take the suggestion of putting it in the face only, and filling rest of body with polyfil. This is just for me so it won't be played with much (ha). Just wanted to try something different with a group of friends. I'm thinking that I might prefer to stay with needle felt when it comes to dolls as I feel like I would have more flexibility with details. Anyway, I will share a photo when I finish. thanks again,
Josie

Hello,
Has anyone ever made a felted doll using a resist? If so what did you use for filling? I would like to fill it but also do additional sculpting on the face when finished. In this case would wool stuffing be best? Thanks Josie

I have not worked on my piece since mid Mar when my focus was finishing my embroidery panel. I had not seen this book before but looked it up when I read your message. The cover has a beautiful mitered square jacket. I have not tackled any garments like this in knitting but it’s beautiful. It’s really not hard to pick up a stitch even when you drop it. It’s happened to me a few times and sometimes I have to take out a few rows but the key is to count the row stitches as you go along. I think it would be very interesting to try it in felting but how would you get the mitered look on each square? Or you could just do solid or mixed colors and build the jacket with placement of squares on an angle. Something to think about.
On another note, is there a way to set an alert so I can get emils whenever someone makes a comment on a subject or direct a comment to me. I only saw this today as I came in to send a message.
Thanks Josie

Felicity these pin cushions are so cute. I think it would be a great project for kids to make.

Wow! I have never seen this type of beading. It's really interesting and structural. I love the work you did. Simply amazing!
