Hope you don't think I am trying to take over today with all my posts (nuno felting, wet felting and 4th quarter challenge) but I finished 3 projects and wanted to share them. Maybe another scarf today using locks for the first time. I am going to visit family in Lancaster, PA USA over thanksgiving and want to take scarves as gifts.
Then the question becomes which ones can I part with? ;-)

Here I would like to share my template for slippers with elevated heels and encourage you to try make a pair. Not very difficult. The measures shown in the photo (left shoe)) are for woman size 37/38 (European). On the right you can see show how I mark the cut out (a rather crooked line, sorry I am not very good at using Paint programme). You need to find the middle, measure the length of your slipper and divide it by 2. I make a mark by pusing the point of scussors into felt) and then measure 1.4 inches from each side. Then you cut out the "toungue".Also, it is importatn that you make the toungue thinner at the top by cutting off approx. half of its thickness) so that you achieve a nice transition from thicker heel towards the middle of the slipper. When you start shaping and fulling your slippers you need to keep lifting the edge on the heel so that you get a nice rim as for example here www.ipernity.com/doc/724735/38911124//in/album/673143 or here www.ipernity.com/doc/724735/38672954//in/album/673143. Shaping and fulling requires quite a lot of effort. I do a lot of rolling in a wet towel, shaping, rolling again until you get the desired size. I'm not sure if I was clear enough, so please ask questions.

Thanks Nada - I wondered what you did about the transition of the tongue inside the slipper. Frances - post away - we love to see that you have been felting and what you've made!!

I have that trouble too, Frances. I've just made a few pieces of felt for book covers, little address book covers for the well-being centre Christmas fair, I know most people have phones with numbers etc but older people still like address books. But now I don't want to cut them up I already have most of the notebooks I've ever made because people like them but never buy them, so it seems like a waste of nice felt. But on the other hand, it'll just be nice felt stuck in a box.

The scarves are super, Frances, it's nice to know you are feeling well enough to want to felt, & I'm so pleased to hear you are going to visit family, I hope their company can help you. If you want to get more ruffle, if you feel brave you can stretch & pull the ruffles out around the edge as you get towards the end of the felting (just don't tear it, I did that 1 time!), & you can press them out more with steam & iron too.
Nada, thank you SO much for the template, you even made it my size, how kind! I do like your slippers very much & I think I'm ready to make some more soon, although I find it hard to work with such thick layers, the fulling seems never ending.

The plaid felt is luscious - you should make a vest using that mix

Oh Zed, I made plaid felt a couple of days ago too, made notebook covers out of it... must have been subconsciously channelling my inner Zed!! Yours is much nicer than mine tho (& I was happy with mine til I saw yours!)

It's wonderful Zed! Frances is so right. A waistcoat made of that would be fab. And you only need felt for the front because the back would be silk or cotton.
