I made my stripey/sparkly piece into a diary/notebook cover. I went with the stripey side in the end. I finished another one too, but it's been so foggy and dark here, I just couldn't get a photo. I wanted to finish them to take with me to an organisation who help fight for disability rights, they helped me fill a claims form in, and they do it all as volunteers and run on donations. I don't have much spare money so I thought I'd give them something for themselves and they absolutely loved them (though they did seem just as happy with the teabags and biscuits I took too!) For the last couple of days I've been making beads. These are some I made from stiffened Sari silk. threaded onto beading elastic with some bargain Tibetan silver beads and charms from Ebay. Stocking fillers for my 3 granddaughters - I hope they'll like them. flic.kr/p/AK24mnToday, I'm doing a dyeing experiment as suggested bt Jenny Dean. Using 16 small skeins, 3 different mordants, one dye bath, then 3 different modifiers. Jenny uses 25 skeins, but I'm short of a mordant - so 16 it is. Will post results when finished.

Judith, what do you stiffen the sari silk with? I can't stop going by the thrift stores and finding more fabric that I can't live without!!
Zed, I love that you used a variegated thread to sew the covers together. That's a lovely detail.

Zed, I love that you used a variegated thread to sew the covers together. That's a lovely detail. I fused two layers of silk with Bondaweb to enable me to cut with some precision, then used an acrylic gloss gel as the glue.

Beautiful bracelets Judith! The girls will love them. Thanks for the tips. I'll have to remember that when Lisa gets a little older.
