I think this may be the place for these. Made with expanding foam. I lined a bowl with cling film, sprayed it with cooking oil, then squirted the foam in. A plant pot covered in bubble wrap, a cake tin. All make cheap and cheerful shapes. CIMG4757 by koffipot, on Flickr CIMG4756 by koffipot, on Flickr CIMG4541 by koffipot, on Flickr

Did you join the other two pieces together? Do you cover it in cling film before using it?

Shelley, If I want to use 2 pieces of foam, I just stick them together temp. with some cocktail sticks. Sometimes cover with cling film, thin cotton or bubble wrap if I want to make it a little bigger. It's surprising what we have in the kitchen cupboards or garden shed; often those seldom used things can be given a "career change"

I'l lovin' this idea. You could make a direct mould of your own head...my list of things to do just got bigger. Going to make a hat for my daughter and feelin' all inspired.

Don't forget to spray the inside of your shape with a little cooking oil. It allows the foam to be released more easily.
Also, don't use too much foam (as I always seem to do) it keeps expanding long after you think, then you have to slice off a huge chunk of something resembling a very large meringue!

Brilliant idea!
But I know what you mean about the foam expanding long after you stop squirting it!
