Judy, Snickers complete does look fabulous, I think pets come up better due to the fur similar to fibre ratio, agree people do tend to look spooky. Judith, I hope you are keeping notes on the pants project, just think it could be the equivalent boys version to the "sisterhood of the travelling pants" Lyn - glad you are on the mend and I think some time spent on the forum would could as fibre time

You sound euphoric Karen, and quite rightly so - I hope you manage another similar day tomorrow.
I'm not up to doing anything energetic, so I've spent the afternoon stitching on felt and on fabric. It's dark here now so photos will have to follow.

Well, I guess I am in the sisterhood of the pants projects. I have been looking at my husband's new pants that need to be altered. Just nothing exciting about that. Hope everyone is on the mend from all this flu. I am painting some new canvas that I had delivered. I have two 18 X 18 canvas to mount my pet portraits to and they need to be black. I have some concerns because I had them custom made from a new business in town that caters to local artists. I am noticing some differences. Rough finish, canvas seems a little loose. I am picky. One of the things I liked about his business is that he has kiln dried wood stretcher bars. I have been concerned about the quality of the wood in the canvas that I get from the big box hobby stores. I worry that it will warp in time if it is not framed. Since I use the 1 1/2 inch gallery wrapped canvas, there is no need of a frame. All you painters out there who have spent any time stretching you own canvas, knows what I mean by this. Hmmmmm, I wonder if I did myself any favors here. His prices are the same as the big box hobby stores.

Karen you seem to be really enjoying yourself and we will expect some pictures soon. I have a hard time finding deep frames that will take felt. I want glass to keep it clean. Of course I always end up with a finished size that won't fit a standard frame. I should write down the sizes so I end up this the right size.

It's raining hard here so I had to take my stitching photos in artificial light - doh! Anyway, here's my bowl. I made a piece of textured felt, then when dry I cut it into 8 panels and a circle - stitched them together - eh voila, a bowl. It's dinner-plate size. I think it looks prettier 'in the flesh' but it's so hard to get good photos in the winter isn't it? Attachments:

Here's the second piece of stitching I did yesterday. It was a plain fabric tote and I had some material left from my favourite skirt (that I used in the autumn challenge) so I used bondaweb to attach some petals and then did the 'messy' applique technique. My grand-daughter picked up the bowl and exclaimed delight at it. Then she looked at the tote, thought for a bit, and asked me why I hadn't finished the flowers - she reckons I should have just had one complete flower.....maybe she's right... Attachments:
