Hi Josie, If you click Home, then scroll to Wet Felting and click that, then just above the board, over on the right, there are 3 options, click the middle one 'Start new thread' Pilling happens to wool if it is used a lot, unfortunately. For wool that can't be too thick or fulled really hard, you can make wool more heard wearing if you use fabric with it. I've had two purses that I made from felt, one started to get bobbly, but the other I've been using for a few years was made from nuno felt. This piece, it's not all covered in silk, but it helps www.flickr.com/photos/zedster01/3466795176/

Different wools pill more or less too. try making some samples with different wools pin them to something and see how the wear. finer wools wear more quickly so you wouldn't use merino for a rug. hard wearing wools tend to me courser so more itchy and aren't nice next to the skin.

Ok I do understand now. I have noticed the difference with different wools. I will try more felt bags using different wools, to understand how each perform.

I would recommend that you get Ruth's book, "The Complete Photo Guide to Felting." It is the Bible of Felting in my opinion and the photos are a really big help. I am a mixed media artist, but do a little felting in the process.
