In preparations for my exhibition I managed to finish this handbag with poppy flowers. I used New Zealand wool mixed with bamboo fibers (70:30) from Wollknoll. Never want to touch this wool again! I had to use all the tricks that I know and it took me six hours before it felted. Then it took me several more hours to sew silk lining with inner pocket with a zip and added a magnetic snap button. www.ipernity.com/doc/724735/43572676 Well, wools are full of surprises.

It is very beautiful Nada!! Thanks for the warning of bamboo (cause I bought it also ). Is it the bamboo that gives the metallic look?? I love those poppy's !

Oh my word Nada, six hours to felt your bag, you either have patience in abundance or you just don't let things beat you. The result is stunning however, well worth sticking with, it is superb.

Thank you ladies for your comments. It was painful indeed, Ruth but I am stubborn and don't give up easily. Viltmaaraan, what looks like metal is actually bamboo. I have been felting before with bamboo mixtures and there was no problem, just this combination with New Zealand wool does not work somehow.

You are a very patient felter! That was hard labour but the resulting bag is lovely. As others have observed, it does look metallic.

It looks beautiful, Nada! I love poppies. They are really highlighted in your bag by the dark and metallic felt. Great timing for Remembrance Day in Europe and Veteran's Day in the US.

Hi again Folks, I know it's Nov 1, but here's the link to my updated Flickr site with pics from our trip to North Carolina this weekend, and the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair. I'm still working on adding captions to the photos. It starts with my fiber purchases. I mostly got hand dyed skeins for knitting, because I'd bought so much wool for felting recently. Then there are a lot of the outdoors, including some close-ups of texture in trees, etc., for those who might like that. There are a small few of the stalls at the show, because I felt a little guilty about taking pics of others' work, but there are 2-3 of the felted works of an artist originally from Bulgaria who lives in Atlanta. I got her card if anyone would like to know her name. There are also a few of sheep and goats, including one sheep that was almost like a dog--he seemed to love being petted and we obliged for quite a while. 😍🐏 And a few photos of alpacas, including a video of one mother and son duo. (It's not seeming to upload, but I will try again later.) She is trying to wean him, but he is very persistent about sneaking his head up to her. It was so much fun! DH also seemed to enjoy the animals and he picked out some pottery and hand-made soaps, too. Oh, and one photo that I still have to take and upload: a mug that says "I knit so I don't kill people". Lolol They didn't have one felting, but had them for spinning, crochet, sewing, and quilting. DH thinks it's a little extreme, but I think it's funny and speaks to the therapeutic effects of working with fiber. ❤️ www.flickr.com/photos/23720908@N02/

Great photos, Triciaf. I too love taking 'texture' photos. Then I never know what to do with them. I should use them for inspiration. The first (that I saw) photo of a tree trunk looks like an alpaca!! Great purchases. They match the colors in your photos. I'll have to make a better effort to get to Saff one of these days. I like the mug. It's not too extreme. At the Maryland Sheep and Wool festival I got a button that says "If Felting were an exercise you could bounce a quarter off my ass" :-)
