You are right, Zed. Perhaps I started at a wrong end: I showed her how to make balls which balls are not easy to make at all. Next time we'll start with a piece of flat felt and then she can make a picture and play with colours.

Beads over pencils is easy and fun and noisy.

My daily dose today was cutting a huge piece of felt on the bias and then dying the 2 halves. I am hoping to make some big nuno scarf/wraps with them. I didn't know that felt had a bias. My daily dose over the weekend was making a few flowers with some stray fibers of unknown content.

It seems to have a bias - take a piece of felt and pull it - it appears to give more in one direction than the other (unless it's felted to the absolute max and rigid as a board!)

Must be an age thing.
When I was younger I was happy to mend and alter garments...now I just want to make pretty things.
Moan over. Back to my dose of fiber: altering duvet covers, altering the length of trousers and re-attaching buttons.

Back to my dose of fiber: altering duvet covers, altering the length of trousers and re-attaching buttons. Making is a joy, mending and altering a chore. I've spent several evenings happily spinning up fibre for a project I want to knit, whilst the button which fell off my cardigan last week is still sitting on the shelf just waiting to get lost.

Back to my dose of fiber: altering duvet covers, altering the length of trousers and re-attaching buttons. I never liked mending, even though I did it. I did love to make my children's clothes, including prom dresses. My daily dose was, washing alpaca fiber, carding fiber, felting more dryer balls, plying some hand spun yarn, and now doing some hand knitting.

Similar here, Judith, I finally gave in and sewed a missing button back on my fly, it probably would have been easier if I'd done it before I put my keks on, but I couldn't be bothered taking them off again Yesterday I made some samples for the wet felting class tomorrow. We're doing an exercise in pulling tops off, laying out very finely, layers and texture to make a soft decorative piece. Basically they're alternate layers of wool and some fancy/commercial yarns, then lots of decoration on the top. I thought if people learn fine and scruffy first they won't get bogged down with 'it doesn't work' if everything isn't neat and attached firmly. I'm uploading files/editing pics so hopefully I'll show photos later on.

Mending isn’t my favorite chore, but I always feel good afterwards, because I have saved a garment. Much prefer mending to scrubbing pots.
My fiber dose for the last couple of days has been untangling mulberry silk skeins and the odd yarn remnants and then re-winding on spools or cones. I also hand-dyed some cotton thread in red beet juice.

Love the Candy Cap and Zed your samples are very pretty,
I have a resist laid out along with fiber but having trouble getting motivated. Maybe I will start later today - making something will improve my attitude - 4 days of rain with more scheduled tomorrow is certainly depressing.
