So what I did is super simple for most of you, but it's my first time using a resist. I used an instructional post from this site, had a little difficulty making my pot look good, refelted/fulled it, and now feel it looks a little better. Still bumpy and uneven but at least it's a little more solid-feeling. I used merino wool with some silk noil and angelina fibers as embellishment. That so nice with felt, you can refelt it (till certain point) or go on working next time. I should fill it with choclat Easter eggs. Mmmmm.

Your pod is beautiful Liz, and it looks like used a good number of wool layers too so it holds its shape well.
Personally I like my felt to have a slightly bumpy texture (it means it has been properly fulled) but it you prefer a smoother felt, the bumps can be smoothed out by getting it soapy and slippery and then rubbing the surface in circular motions with some thin plastic such as a bin liner.

Yes, Ruth, I will definitely be making more! I'm so glad you guys are doing this felting challenge, it's really encouraging me to do the stuff that seems more difficult.

The octopod is great. it looks like one of the many armed starfish to me. I wonder if you would have found it easier to use the floor underlay for the resist. You would have been able to roll it and leave it in while it was shrinking. It just compresses as the wool shrinks. You can pull it out without cutting it too.
Lizd, your little pod is great. We all started somewhere. I think you did a good job. what I have done in the past is to blow up a ball or balloon inside to stretch it out a bit as it dries. stretching it out a little will take out the bumps much of the time.

Liz, your pod is wonderful and I agree that the cheery colours are just right for Easter - don't worry about bumps as they add welcome texture to the pod!
If you do want to make a smoother pod, the most important factors are making the layers of wool as even as possible i.e. avoiding clumps of fibres, and, although it takes much longer, work the felt gently and with tepid soapy water.

I finally finished my book-resist four leaf vessel by fulling it some more and sewing some beads around the edges. I think it's turned out nice.

Nice colors Smiff. If you make a stamp to it, it would be a flower.

It's amazing Smiff. Was it difficult to do the beading? It looks perfect. I'm very intimidated by book resist. It takes me so long to even do a basic resist, I can't imagine the book resist.

Smiff, the beading finished it off very nicely.
