Some very nice results there Cathy. I've just borrowed "Natural Processes in Textile Art" by Alice Fox from the library and I'm inspired to try out so many things. Tried some rust dyeing on cotton scrim which yielded a nice mix of taupes and greys. Now to reduce my iron water to make some ink. Just waiting for a dry day so I can work outside. She uses all sorts of found and foraged items. I'm thinking of digging up some Sweet Woodruff roots, which I believe give a pink similar to Madder. Watch this space!

Judith, Have never seen berries on my "golden barberry" bush, and I have had it now two winter seasons.
Jill, I don’t think I am ready for using silk with my ecoprints…a bit more experimentation needed first. But if I had eucalyptus I think I would keep trying with different samples--switching up the mordants, adding iron, etc. Simmering vs. vigorous boiling. Yes, please post your experiments in the autumn. Would be lovely if you could achieve those orange/reds.

Judith, I am familiar with the work of Alice Fox and will try to get my hands on her new book. I like the way she combines aspects of nature with cloth and paper. Must admit, though, I have not yet warmed up to Rust. Were you pleased with your rust dyeing?
Judy, nice job with the dyeing. Such fun, isn’t it?

Yes, I am very much enjoying Eco Printing. I agree there is heaps to learn. I am sure there will be failures and success... Smile.

It was just a quick trial and I was happy with the shades achieved, but will have to be less 'gung-ho' with my layout.

Oh, thanks to you naughty ladies I just ordered the Alice Fox book... & you can't just order 1 book from Amazon, can you?... 2 more textile art books slipped into my basket too - ooopps! (actually, I've just returned from my birthday coffee & cake morning with a gift of cash from my friends, so *had* to spend it on treats). Perhaps I'll finally start to understand what mordant is.

You are right, Jill, you can never order just one book, because Amazon cleverly shows you a couple more that you want. Now that I’m on their Prime list, it’s doubly hard because the shipping is free!
Happy Birthday!

I suffer from the 'Three' syndrome. I can't ever purchase ANYTHING unless I purchase at least 3 items. Weird, I know.
Happy birthday, too, Jill
