It is very hard to make a thick mat like the needle felting mats you see for sale. The mats are several machine needle felted sheets that are then needle felted together. At least that's what the edge looks like on the one I have. It might be best to make several sheets as thick as you can and then input them inside a felt pillowcase.

I am not sure what would cause your experience. but we all have to find what works best for us. There are lots of different ways and it's good to try them all and find what you like to do. I prefer rolling and rub for only a short time. Ruth likes rubbing and does very little rolling.

Yes, it can drive you crazy. When I try to send mail to the guild membership as a Bcc no one gets it. My mail program won't even send it to the server to be sent out to everyone. It looks like it goes but it never arrived. No one can figure it out.

For everyone's benefit, I figured out my problem. My browser has a Facebook fence that helps prevent Facebook from nosing into where you go on the web. I removed the fence around the forum and now I can see the photos. If you have something in your browser doing something similar that may be the issue with only the links showing.

It depends on why you are no longer happy with it. if it is just underfelted then refelt. You could move the pieces to a gallery page that shows/explains your journey rather than for sale. Then reuse the frames.

I don't use a sander but always start my rubbing on the silk side to encourage the wool up through the silk.

I have heard of people felting with that weight but I haven't done it myself. I would give it a try with a sample. I am not familiar with the fabric, could it be used for lining things?

I can see the photos now but there was an old reply that it wasn't showing. Not sure why it works sometimes but not others. none of the pictures are showing for me just links.

Maybe using anything from first fibre to deconstructed fibre and everything inbetween. Innovating with many fibre techniques from ancient to contemporary and beyond. Then, go on to talk about the purpose of your creating.

I also think that fulling it down as much as possible is very important. Many pieces of felt I see online do not look well fulled. I'm not sure about the thickness issue but samples would need to be done! Are you suggesting a winter project for me?

My thought is it ends up the same thickness. I will see if I can find the video and share the link. It may be just a different way to get the same thing.
