My daily does yesterday was laying out some slippers as examples for my class Dec 1. todays daily dose was labelling and delivering things to a friend for their store in December. So naturally a couple of hours later the museum store called and wanted soap and dryer balls. So that will be my weekend dose. Oh well, it will keep me out of trouble.

They are beautiful. Price them high. You definitely have to do it as something you enjoy. I fixed the double picture for you.

I use world of wool in the UK. Cheapest even with shipping and they do colour packs. There is Living Felt in Texas. feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Felting-Wool-Fiber_c_1.html There must be others too. See if there is a weavers and spinners group in your area and find out if they have felters too. we often hang out together. they may know of good sources nearby

If I just have one row of locks on the edge I don't worry about it to much. sometimes they might stick to each other but pull apart easily. If I have several rows I put a piece of plastic wrap between the rows protecting each row from sticking to the last row. I wouldn't worry about the dreads if they are on the edge. If they will by lying on top of loose wool then I would slip a piece of plastic wrap between. The loose wool might try to gram hold of them but also the dread might disturb your layout if it is moving around. Please post a picture of your piece when its done (or in progress too. we wold love to see what you are ding.

Dive in and try different styles. I prefer a combination of wet felting and needle felting in pictures mostly. I was not very good at 3D needle felting.

Hi and welcome. You do need the right needles. They are very fine. Some yarn stores carry roving or top or batts. Roving and top look like a rope and batts a flat sheet rolled up. You can use pet hair and well just about anything for needle felting. I know people that use cotton batting for the core of their pieces and wool on the outside. So the fiber fluff you made will work fine. For wool I recommend Corriedale because it felt up quickly. Merino is a another common wool but it is very fine and takes more work. If you can't fine it locally there are many sources on line. I am guessing you are in the USA. the is Living Felt in Texas that has many kits.

It is funny isn't it Ruth. I once had a small bowl of roving balls as part of my display at the farmers market. A lady wanted to buy one of the balls and I told her no they were just part of the display. The balls had about 50 cents worth of wool in them if I was generous. She insisted so I told her $20 think that would put an end to it. Nope, she handed me $20 and took the little ball of roving. I guess she really wanted it. People are crazy. My daily dose yesterday was working on my holiday card. and today will be packaging up the dryer balls I didn't do yesterday.

I have someone who might like to use BFL for slippers in my class. I usually use Corriedale. and haven't used BFL for wet felting. Can anyone tell me how the BFL shrinks compared to the Corriedale?

Button rummaging, so much fun. I love buttons. Picking just the right button for things can be hard sometimes but it is always fun to play with the buttons. Good luck at the beach. Ruth, why is it that people always want to buy the display?
