Hi everyone! As Lindsay and Antje said everything is closing here in UK. People are very reasonable and close/cancel whatever is possible even without strict directions from the government. The most of art/craft events were called off. Just today I received a cancellation letter from Staithes Art Festival which was planned for September! Quite far ahead but they think that even if the medical situation improves to the date the economical impact will stay. I'm afraid they are very right. On a brighter side now I will have time to do more gardening! In this time of year it's very much needed and rather enjoyable I will keep felting again having some extra time for more experimental works which is good! We both (myself and my husband) are staying at home him working online but will keep going out for some walks at green places we have plenty around. As I know the most of parks and gardens are still open for people. Take care everyone! Stay well and safe! Love, Galina

It's me again To see an original picture in a forum post is always more attractive to me than just a link. Until recently I've used my blog as a temporary storage and then insert it to a forum post. It was not always convenient especially now when I abandoned the blog. Now I use Facebook: if you click on the picture you get it large and then right click and you get a small menu with Properties at the bottom. Left click on it and copy Address(URL) from the screen. It could be longer than it's visible! Then you can insert it in your forum post using Insert Image icon from the top line. I'm sure that all above is well known, it was just a reminder But what was more useful for me is this: I could create "an invisible" post, just for my own use, for the purpose above! Sometimes I do not what to create a proper post, just want to place a picture somewhere to use a link. In this case I use the option "Only me" instead of "Public" and no one else could see it on Facebook.

Thank you all very much for your thoughts and considerations! I believe we agreed that if the picture was purchased officially for a commercial use and served just as an inspiration source I could ignore credit issue. Thanks for all support I always get from the forum!

To make a discussion more enjoyable this is a picture which started all the thinking...

I'm listening Just want to stress - I'm going to buy the picture from the official source which implies commercial use. For example I'm allowed to print the image on commercial products and sell them. When you buy a t-short with some whimsical image on it it's very rare to see a name of artist on it as well. I do agree with both of you about the difference - is it a copy or just a trigger to your imagination? I have plenty of time to think about it, it's a next year exhibition...

An ethical question I attended a workshop recently on making felted pictures using the photographs as reference. The most of students used their own pictures. I know that I will need a good quality professional picture of a specific National Park landscape as an inspiration for a themed felted picture I was invited to make and exhibit. The problem is that I do not have any suitable picture so that I'm going to purchase a picture I like at some place like shutterstock or alike. I usually do not make a copy of a reference picture just use it as a inspirational image. So the question is - should I include credits to an author of the picture? I'm not sure that the picture would be even recognisable

Gorgeous, Galina. I love them. So, how did you decide to finish them for hanging? Thank you Lindsay! The white one was stitched (in points which were out of sight) to a small blank framed canvas and then the back side was covered with a piece of industrial felt. A small loop was attached to a wooden frame. The blue one was stitched to a mount board through the holes I've made with a hole puncher. While stitching I tried to stretch the piece as well. Then I removed the glass from the frame, placed the piece stitched to a mount board and press down with the cardboard (backside of the frame). I had to put some extra fixings/screws to keep all together. I hope to do better next time !

There's a film on 'Netflix' called 'Chasing Coral' - it documents the disappearance of coral reefs. As your coral is white you might say it's the ghost of the disappearing reef? Oh, thank you! The interesting point is that some inspiration came from the textile work of this artist Vanessa Barragao and her early works were in pale colours as to attract attention to fading and disappearing coral reefs! Interesting association!
