I've got this box and quite happy with it. The most of my fish and medium sizes object were photographed using it. At least there is no need of thinking of blank background and diffused light. I would like to be more skilled in making pictures but at the moment I am OK with it. I use a proper camera though...

Oh Wow, they are wonderful. I suppose that if you wanted to make more you could use egg cups (or make your own felt ones too) Yes, any type of stands will do. Napkin ring? It was a fun project, I've made 6 altogether.

I am a "rolling" person but it's very much depends on what you wish to achieve! If I want to make a delicate scarf or something sturdier but with fine surface (like my "watercolours") I hardly ever rub and mainly on a back side. I believe that the problem with rubbing is that it agitates fibres which is what it is for at the beginning of a process. If the rubbing is to continue it will cause too much wool going through to the surface and it will blur all the colours or create unsightly layer of wool on the top of fabric if it's a nuno piece. Obviously it's fine if the colours are not a problem or if you make a sturdy piece like boots or slippers or heavy garment. I never make them so I mainly roll but rub sometimes when I need to make some detail very firm. As for Russian felters I agree with Antje that they are very advanced generally speaking. One of the reasons is that this craft is on the top of the fashion a few last years and another is that many felters there consider it as a job (part-time or even more) and not as occasional hobby. They are making mainly wearable things and a competition is fierce so they are very good technically. And "Russian" usually means from a former Soviet union, they may be Ukrainians (there are very talented Ukrainian felters) of from Baltic countries where they have a long time traditions of working with wool. Yes, the most of them use sanders at the first stage of felting just to help wool to catch especially if it's nuno. And then the process is how Antje described. One lady (who doesn't use sander) seals the piece between two layers of plastic and then shake it in different fashions, it works nicely for delicate scarves or light garments. They hardly ever make interior pieces. Sorry for a long post

Being Russian and have known many Russian felters personally I just can't miss this discussion

Thank you very much Ruth! I believe the most of small suppliers have ETSY shops as well but not everyone is buying on ETSY and some prefer a more familiar format of internet shops. I will make a list of suppliers for US/Canada and Europe as well.

Could anyone recommend any suppliers of silk stuff in USA or Canada apart from Divinity Fibres? I need to advise students on suppliers there and I do not know many. My interest is mainly dyed silk hankies/Mawata and silk laps. Thank you in advance!

Is there an option to make a draft version of a thread/post to keep it from publishing until I finally edit it? Or some kind of post with delayed date/time of posting? I need it sometimes if I make a large post with a lot of pictures/attachments/links to the other resources and I want to be sure they are working before I publish. Thanks

Thank you very much Ruth and Ann! I just kept knocking and got it right eventually Some students found it more familiar to post on FB and now I have extra job to comment on their works there and moving their pictures back to forum so that the other students could see it. I should have thought better before starting it !

Thank you very much Ann! It's a private group. It seems I'm getting through eventually. I'm going to send mass invitation today - to all the students and see if it works. If not I will seek more help!

I thought I would send invitation e-mails tomorrow. It will be the end of the first week so that it has been enough time for all of the students to get their bearings on forum. Just didn't want to add to possible confusion with so much of information they were getting.

Thank you Ruth! I believe that I'm doing exactly as told and I know that the recipient (like myself from another FB account) is receiving an invitation e-mail and pressing "Join" button! And that's it! I (as invited person) can't see any way to go any further, how to go to the group in question. Just two years ago I was invited this way and it worked nicely... At the moment I invite people who are my FB friends and it works (like with yourself). The funny side of this wretched business with a FB group that I have a strong feeling that I'd better drop it at all as nobody is interested

I need some help from experienced Facebook users or anyone more intelligent than myself ! I've created a FB group to support students of my course. The group is private by invitation only. If the person is my FB friend I invited them by their FB name, they accepted and became members of a group. If they are not my friends, I have to invite them by sending an invitation e-mail. And I do not understand how it works! I created a dummy FB account just to test the situation and as an invited person I see the invite in my e-mails, accept it but I can't see anything in FB notifications and do not understand how to join the group. Sorry if it's unclear Any thoughts are very welcome.
