You could use them all together to make a multi-coloured collage scarf, Judy

Are these challenges open to everyone? I am not very experienced, but would love to join in. I have bought some cheesecloth a few months ago and hope to experiment with these in a few weeks (first i have do some midterms, for which I am not studying right now, bad me).

Yes, please join in. We all want to see how things turned out and maybe we might even learn something.

I kept my first attempt at nuno felting really simple - a very open cotton scrim and merino, laid out in as the Finnish flag! I wasn't sure how much wool I needed and thought I hadn't used much. I rolled straight away after wetting, something I never do. I am so used to rubbing first but after reading Ruth's book, rolling it was. I was getting a bit worried as I couldn't see any fibre migration but I rolled a little more vigorously and it happened. It was amazing how suddenly it all came together and the shrinkage was remarkable. Next I will try with a silk scarf I have with a little less wool and perhaps some gaps - endless possibilities! feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/x53ijzlkxgsophkhli_y.jpg

Oh that's pretty! I love scrim and that's a fantastic use of it.

I finally got around to the challenge. I like sourcing fabrics from charity shops (thrift shops) usually scarves but sometimes I'm lucky enough to find a silk blouse. I've found a few scarves that are really like coloured threads held together by an almost invisible mesh as fine as a spider's web - felts in so easily. I laid down some blue merino wool and topped it with the fabric to make the nuno felt, then when it was dry I stitched it into a three-quarter pint mug cosy.
