Etsy does take a lot of time. Just getting it set up and going is a huge effort. I hope your packs sell Zed.
Judy - company is always exhausting but it sounds like you had fun.

Judy, good to hear you had such fun with the family. Enjoy a rest before you get started again.

I think I'd be exhausted after that, Judy I think you'd have to be very committed to make Etsy a success for fibre and supplies etc, and organised like you said, Ann. I just thought I'd sell those spare silk packs and see how some notebooks and maybe purses and coin pouches go. A few years ago when we had really good postage prices might have been better. I hope the pack sells, too, Ruth, or there might be another giveaway

For almost three years Annie and I sold wool on Etsy and Ebay to fund our own felt making. We bought in bulk then made up packets of pretty colours (25g per colour for wet felters and 12.5g per colour for needle felters) for people who wanted lots of colours but didn't want to buy 100g of each. It was tiring work and more time-consuming that you think it would be with the ordering, splitting, packing, shop watching, answering enquiries and continuous trips to the post office. We also dyed and sold bundles of scrim. Then we realised that we were spending nearly all our precious creative time being shopkeepers and that felt making had taken a back seat - there weren't enough hours in the day - so we gave it up. Here's something Annie made during our day together. Attachments:

Lyn, your Easter vase is wonderful. Never saw one with all the layers put together like that. The colors are so Spring oriented.
With, yet another snow storm going through, I am putting the studio back together after the Grandma's Art Competitions. I need to get started on the next projects that are waiting for my attention. I am also starting the change from winter clothes. I have faith that Spring will be here by the end of the month. (cross my fingers)

Lyn I've see a couple of shops that say they ship Thursdays and Mondays only. I did see one that shipped once a week. That might help if the post office is any distance from home. I agree you have to make sure you don't forget the reason you are doing it. Zed can you add a link into your book or put something about your etsy shop in the information about the book?
I like the vase Lyn, are they all attached or are they separate and put inside one another

These pretty pastels are really you Lyn. Your colour choice always reminds me of neopolitan ice cream! Yum! Too cold for it today though. :\

I can't take the credit for the pot - Annie's choice of colours and her idea.
Ann - they're not separate, it's one pod with different layers cut back.

I worked all day today making a power point presentation for a felting class I am teaching in June. Too bad I had completely forgotten how to do one. It took forever but I've about got it together now. I've been putting off doing my machine applique piece because so far, I don't like it. It's always harder to work on something that isn't going as planned.

Oh Ruth - you should have asked my 9 year old grand-daughter! She can whip up a PPP in a few minutes (wish I could).
I've had more than my five minutes of fibre - I've been experimenting all day. The only things I've gained are: a sure-fire knowledge of some stuff that doesn't work and a few more bits for 'my box' that will probably be re-cycled into future projects . Ah well. No pain, no gain.

Annie's pot is gorgeous, Lyn I have the link to the book in my profile, Ann, and there is an 'About' for the shop that I could fill out, but it needs photos and a 'story'. I don't feel upto it at the moment. I can imagine how much time it took, Lyn, just taking photos takes long enough I bet doing the books for all that took a while too! I think if I sell any more supplies it'll be a spontaneous thing, maybe put a pack of something together when I'm getting fibres together for a project I'm working on. I've never used Power Point, but I know a lot of people really like it.

I can do instant downloads now, but my book is too big for that and for email.
