We're into our third month of the Daily Dose of Fiber Challenge. I have managed to do at least some small creative bit every day and even post about it. I am getting into the habit of daily posting and I will try to keep up with the habit. What are you doing this week?

Well, I had a perfect record until my day of laziness yesterday. I did nothing. I didn't even cook. My Hall of Shame. So today I made up for it. I did some printing of images to use in my Steampunk projects. I also painted canvas #23 to mount my fiber art onto. It has warmed up a good deal, so I can use my painting studio again.

Judy were allowed to have a day of doing nothing occasionally, helps to recharge the batteries I've painted a couple of canvas's in prep for a new project but thats as far as i've got for now, waiting for them to dry is the longest part

This challenge is good for me - I've achieved far more in the last nine weeks than I normally would.

Me too. Judy - I'm sure your brain was thinking up new things to try as you were being lazy!

Tuesday is my day for visiting my daughter and g'daughters, then I play Bridge in the evening, so no fibre work on Tuesdays. However, my dress fabric arrived whilst I was away so I 'played' with it for 10 mins, it's all a bit 'louder' than I had thought, but will look good if we get lots of sunshine - wishing and hoping Does playing with fabric count?

I got some bird housed laid out, well the bases. I still have to decorate them. Then get them felted.

Moving right along, I finished #23 fiber art mounted onto black canvas. Hopefully, I can use my painting sunroom tomorrow to work on #24. My goodness, can it be true? My last canvas. I want to get back to my small projects. Oh so much easier. Of course, I still have another pet portrait to make. This time, my daughter's miniature Schnauzer. He has passed away, but he was her favorite dog.

I've been working on learning insertion stitches to use as small fabric book bindings. Just practicing now but I think they will be great for small needle books etc.

Sounds interesting I have never heard of an insertion stitch.

Oh that actually looks pretty tricky Ruth but the finished results look very cool

The trickiest part is working from both sides. Most people are used to working in one direction or another due to having a dominant stitching hand. Once you get used to working both directions, they aren't that tricky at all. Most of the stitches are based on a buttonhole stitch.

I know that you can use certain machine stitches to do this, but I had never seen it done with hand stitching. I would have a hard time with this after my hand surgeries. But it is very effective. I did get my last canvas painted black to day and was able to use the painting studio. It was warm enough to just use the space heater. So nice to have that space again. Tomorrow I am teaching my Landscape Class, so I will do a last check of my samples and pack them in the car. Glad that I did not wait till the last minute.
