I've been having a play about on Photoshop to give me more of an idea of what can be done

I've been pulling my hair out. It seems such a simple challenge but all the ideas I've had so far haven't developed legs.
But if it was easy, it wouldn't be a challenge would it?
I've got these words written on a piece of paper on my table - I hope they help:
"Fauvist paintings have a simplified drawing and an exaggerated use of colour"

That's a good quote, Lyn.
It sums up what I did in Photoshop, reduced the photo to simple 'cut out' shapes, and whacked the saturation up!

I know what you mean Lyn. I have been thinking about it but haven't gotten anything done. It is way outside my comfort zone for style though. But yes, I think the key is keep it simple and exaggerate the colors. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I have a bit of an idea in my head, how it would transfer into felt is a different matter!

I'm afraid I'm doing a copy: a copy of a favourite painting, which I think is a Fauvist/Impressionist mix. I had a print of this painting on my living room wall for many years. But what's different or me is that I'm going to make several pre-felts to cut out to make the 'blocky' shapes, I hope. & will add some FME, maybe some needle felting for strong lines. I still can't quite cope with red & blue horses, so don't know what I'll do when I get there!

Great minds Jill, I was thinking of blocky prefelts.

I thought I would play with a photo in my editing program. but still don't have a picture in mind. I wonder if those quilting and colour programs we used a couple of years ago would be useful here. I will have to go looking on the blog for them later.

Ann, read your post about Colour Unboxed . Maybe we can also make 4 blocks of wich each contains the line of art of the challenge ? So , i mean if we send our challenges at the end of the year to one person who will arrange the projects ( block 1=fauvism, ..2..,...3..,..4..) , then we will have a nice banner for the year 2018. Maybe one cannot manage all the challenges, but that doesn't matter. It can also be done by the pics whom are send by the participants and make a collage from each quarter. Do 'we' like that??

That sounds like a great idea. I think what we'll do is use the photo idea. I think sending the pieces will be too much for everyone. But a photo collage is great.

It's joyous and wonderful Jill - you ought to hang it in a prominent place at home so that others can enjoy it too.
I like everything about it and I don't think it needs more FME.
You've nailed the spirit of the challenge with that!
