Lyn - what a sweet little bird - a Greenfinch perhaps?
Teri - the bag handle is great. Thinking outside the box.

Great bag, Teri. And how imaginative you are!I would probably never think of reusing an ax handle for a bag.

" We have an unspoken agreement that I will take the lead on anything that requires imagination or aesthetic appreciation (choosing paint colours or kitchen cabinets for example) while he is responsible for anything technical (rewiring the house, plumbing etc). "
My poor DH despairs when I want to find the perfect item to recycle into something. He gave up on my attempts at a coat rack and finally went and bought one. It wasn't too plain, but I should try to 'spiff it up'. As far as choosing colors goes, DON'T ask him about the outside trip fiasco !! All I can say for myself is that the paint chip really was NOT kelly green when I chose it. ;-)

Fantastic reuse of materials, Teri! The bag is wonderful, strong looking. No matter what you put in your grocery cart, the bag can handle it! Who would have thought…an axe handle!

I'm known for "Don't throw it out! I might be able to make it into something else". Yes, Judith, me too. Shall we start a 12-step program for that? The first step is 'Recognize you HAVE a problem'. I always stumble on that one. This past Saturday, I spent several hot hours on my front porch getting rid of my hoarded items. I only took donations (but many people were unclear on the concept), because - How can you put a price on something with little intrinsic value, but something that's priceless to the right artist? The donations were for my local library's Art Programs. I netted $200 for them. And $100 for myself It really did feel good once it was over. Teri- spiffing up the coat rack is waay down my list. The coats generally cover it up.

Me too, Judith. An unused 'wardrobe' (basically a wooden rail with a bit of a frame for a canvas cover) recently became a shelf unit to fit in the kitchen hatch, some old bed slats became an extra shelf, pillow cases become wool bags etc That sounds like the cocept of our car-boot sales, Elizabeth, the perfect places for finding a spare part to a much loved item no longer in production, no use to us, too good to throw away, priceless to someone else. You did well, too!

Teri I could do with your bag for Saturday when I intend to purchase some goodies at the Wollfest - your BIG bag would be just the job, and if anyone gets in my way I could clock them with the handle :-)

Ah but it still thinks it is part of a very long axe, bit like a jack Russell terrier that thinks he is a Rottweiler! I'm sure a determined Carole will put it to effective use too, there's no stopping a fibre addict!

Especially when other fiber addicts may be eyeing your stash in that beautiful bag!
