Thanks, Ann. The dyeing was just to be dyeing, first time for Jacquard Silks. i like to have dyed items waiting in the wings in case I get a spurt of energy for felting.

Wow Elizabeth, that's beautiful. Did you do any rubbing or rolling first? Surely not straight in the dryer with all that delicate surface design & roses? It really is lovely. Surprisingly enough, there was no rubbing or rolling required. I did a little on my own, just because I felt better doing it. One of the roses came completely undone in the dryer. The others I secured with thread after dying. I did a few more roses this weekend and used more wool than previously. I then kind of cupped my hand over them and vibrated it to get it to felt. I still 'lost' one rose, but the others are secured more firmly. Yes, the scarf was wet down before going in the dryer. Thanks for all the compliments.

My daily dose is felting some soap and making some small decorative birdhouses. The mini birdhouses need to be rinsed and have little balloons blown up inside to make them the right shape.

My daily dose isn't screen printing (for a change! ) I have been commissioned to make a parrot-eating sea monster so have spent all day working on that: Tomorrow I need to add a host of spikes and some eyes on stalks. I'm thinking I will change the pectoral fins too - I think the green stripes need to be thinner and more of them.

Scary - must be quite big to eat a parrot! Looking forward to seeing him finished.

He's currently about 1m x 60 cm (3ft x 2ft) but he needs to shrink considerably in the fulling to make him firm enough to stand up on his own.

That is a big one, Terri. How much shrinkage are you going for? 50%?

I only laid out 4 fairly thick layers so am expecting it to shrink 30-40%

My last few days have been spent making sample banners for my nephew’s upcoming wedding. I’ve tried weaving in his selected colors, but I may be headed for felting instead. Photos to come.
