Snow dyeing is lots of fun. I tried it once and would like to do it again but there is no snow here at the moment.

Ah, I get it now, Liz, thanks! Next on my to-buy list is one of those tapestry combs. I like the wooden Navajo type combs I’ve seen on-line.
Look forward to seeing your snow-dyeing results!

My Daily Dose started with a class in January, but I finished the piece last week. I took a Watercolor nuno felting class from Judith Dios. It was a 3-day class if you wanted to felt a garment, 2 days for a scarf. I'm glad I chose the scarf because it was a lot of work. The focus was on surface design, and then we painted the pieces with Jaquard dyes. Because the pieces were to be dyed later, we mostly worked in whites - silk fabric, yarn, and fibers, and wool. Here is my layout for one end: Here is a close-up of a rose. I loved her silk yarn. It was overspun so it created lots of fun coils. I also used some pre-dyed fabrics for more color variety Here is another end. We rolled them in towels and secured them snugly, then felted them in the dryer. We then painted them and fulled them. After dying. I did a little stitching to snug everything up, but I ended up with a scarf I like.

Wow Elizabeth, that's beautiful. Did you do any rubbing or rolling first? Surely not straight in the dryer with all that delicate surface design & roses?
It really is lovely.

Elizabeth--I was thinking exactly what Jill was thinking. Yikes! That’s a lovely scarf, quite glamorous but not over the top. You will feel like a million bucks wearing it!

My thoughts too! I'm guessing it was at least wet down first!
It turned out really nice, Elizabeth and your colours are lovely.

Lovely scarf, great texture and 3D roses. The colours are wonderful too. I don't rub scarves much anymore either. I do them in 10 min rounds . Opening and turning and flipping between and a little fulling by hand at the end. I think you need to know how to felt to use it effectively so you know what you are looking at when you look at along the way.
Cathy your dying is great is it all for one project?
