Nada - your hat is wonderful! I too would love to see the shape of the resist you used.

Frances, Ruth, here is the template for the hat I used two layers of 18 mic merino wool and added some hand dyed silk handkerchiefs for decoration. I fulled the hat quite well to reach the head circumference of 50 or 53 cm (I cannot remember exactly now, the hat has already been given away). This should fit a 5-6 year old girl. I was rolling the hat in a wet towel in all directions and fitted it on my styrofoam hat display to get a nice round shape. Hope this is helpful.

Cute idea to put the pocket in the scarf Frances.
Nada the hat is darling, reminiscent of spring. :-)

I love it Nada! And, for some reason I can now see the cape much better than before. That's very sweet and I love the details.

That hat is so amazing. I can't believe that can even be made. Thank you so much for sharing. The foil is unbelievable

Thanks I'm not sure if I still have the resist, it might have got thrown away with some bubblewrap scraps, but basically it was this shape: It's 10" across No, it wasn't hard to full, I used one of those balls you can fill with laundry liquid to push into the arms/petals as I fulled and stuffed them/it with absorbent cloths, and a balloon to dry. was this one of the multiple 'page' type of resists?

This is definitely is very simple use of a resist but I like the result achieved. A "pocket" was made to pull an end of the felt through. The procedure is described wordpress.com/posts/shadyrr.wordpress.com what an amazingly beautiful scarf.

No, it was just a flat resist, I shaped it during felting/fulling to get it 3D. I used one of those soft plastic balls for laundry liguid to shape the arms/petals, it wasn't exactly round which is why they look like teddy bear arms

I've had another play with resists - although I'm sticking with the flat kind for now though! I bought some fabulous metallic fabric whilst in York at the weekend and wanted to try it out. I like the contrasting texture with the wool felt.

I'm feeling really inspired - some of the work here is so wonderful and complex and detailed. I love all the 3D forms you're creating.

Your resist work is perfect for the first quarter challenge Marian! I like the fabric against the felt - the contrast is wonderful.

Lovely scarf Frances and the pocket ensures the wind won't whip it off.
Such a pretty hat Nada.

Like using fabric beneath the resist. Metallic fabric is such a cool idea.
