Thanks, Carole Lyn, I do like that picture. One effect I use on Photoshop a lot is 'cut out' which that reminds me of. I was using it the other day toying with other ideas and applied it to an Happy Mondays sleeve design:

It's addictive though, I don't know how many 'cut out' pigeon photos I have!

Your picture looks gret, Zed. Far from child drawing.

Oh thanks Zed, I like the 'cut-out' idea. Did you use that tool for your sister's photo? I used to play with PS but am thoroughly out of practice on it. & I really liked the result you got on the photo, & how useful it was for your finished felt art, which I also really like, a lot.

Zed I couldn't tell the difference between the felt pic and the photo or crayoned one - both really effective and not childlike at all, well composed. Maryilyn - that was hot and to think I mentioned a brolly!!! now if'd you'd travelled a little further to Scotland you would have needed a brolly, a jacket and a sunhat!!! glad you are home safe and had a good trip. We needed one in Luxemborg, but of course it was packed in the luggage. :-) it was a good trip, but I'm glad to be home.

I'm sorry your arm is hurting, but thankful your husband helped! I made a sample using the ouessant fiber you sent me. I like it better by itself and may try needlefelting some of it to a landscape. Good luck with the carpet/cushion!

Finally, I was able to get to my felting space and did some organizing and made a batt for a new project. Good to be home.

I gave in to my muse and nuno-felted this weekend. I used small strips of thrift-store silk. I like the way it turned out very much. Scarf by Elizabeth Sutherland, on Flickr Tallulah & Scarf by Elizabeth Sutherland, on Flickr I didn't have much time to enjoy it, though. My sister's oldest son's girlfriend just had a baby girl. When I was packing the baby blanket I just finished I felt that there should be something in the box for the Mom. In went the scarf. Tallulah is adding her special fibery touch. I think I need to do another one, soon, but it may be a while. I'm busy the next few weeks and the builder is supposed to finally start the 'studio' soon!

Ooooh - a new studio - you must keep us supplied with progress photos.

Great scarf, it looks like watery bits on the scarf.

Great scarf, it looks like watery bits on the scarf. YAY! That's what I was trying for! One long side was finished, so I felted some lace down that side. The other long side was not felted, so I folded it and fiber-glued it together. I laid the wool lengthwise only so it would draw up into ruffles. The photo does not show that well, but it has soft ruffles on each side. The studio is STILL 3 weeks from beginning! But it should be in time for cooler weather here. This will be good since the new room is more of an enclosed porch w/out any AC or heat.
