Thank you all it really is addictive the only thing I'm finding hard is stabbing myself repeatedly!! I look forward to getting some hints and tips from everyone (not necessarily about the stabbing thing I assume the answer would be keep your fingers out of the way!!!)

Hi and welcome! Your animals are really cute. I'm sure our veteran needle felters can give you some hints on how to keep your fingers in tact. Thanks for sharing your projects. We look forward to seeing more now that you're hooked. BTW, how did you find us?

Welcome to the forum - you seem to have really taken to needle felting! There are protective guards you can buy (cheaply) such as these: FINGER GUARDS FOR NEEDLE FELTERS

Your critters are great. I used carvers tape to make my own finger protectors. I like it because you can make them to fit your fingers

Hi, and welcome to the forum Your animals are great I do have one suggestion, if you needlefelt on your lap, but a board on your knees/under the foam!

I can't give much advice to you about needle felting, although I do use the Embellisher needle felt machine with some of my projects. But I can help you with color, design and fabrics. Welcome.

I found that when I used the Clover hand tool with multiple needles, I pricked myself less than with individual needles. Of course, you can't use the Clover tool for everything, so going slow was the only thing that helped.

If these are your first attempts, I think you should carry on. Apart from making good and a little embellishing, I'm not a needle felter, which possibly how I still have all my fingers! Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Your first attempts look amazing, congratulations! Needle felting is extremely addictive, so you'll be wanting to make more and more critters As for stabbing your fingers, I think it comes with the territory. I am always stabbing myself, but it needs to be said I don't always use a felting pad/foam to lay my creations on, I often use my bare hands. With time you do become better at avoiding the fingers, but if you then start felting whilst looking somewhere else (I'm guilty of this) it might happen once or twice One piece of advise I always give people who needle felt: please please check if your tetanus shot is up to date, the needles can rust with time!

Very good point, Leonor! The needles do seem to rust and that could be dangerous. I need to pitch a few old needles out…they aren't so expensive as to risk an infection.

Love the little kitty! One tip when you are just starting out with needle felting is just to slow down a little! Watching people learning to needle felt, the thing I noticed was how fast they were stabbing away! Slow down a little and the felting will still come together and it will help reduce the number of times you stab yourself. Have fun! Amanda
