I've been playing with Zed's ideas of layering and washing machine felting, I didn't start from base zero I had a piece of prefelted work which was a bout 4' long, so I chopped it into 3 First piece - I trapped between bubble wrap and a silky fabric The second two I'll put in a post below

second one I trapped between two silky layers and this third one I used netting The felting process seemed to happen the same for all 3, if course some bits didn't felt in at all well, so rather than remove them I may liberate the sewing machine and do some stitching into them. Now I want to try out the proper process doing it all from scratch, I did say your tutorial Zed has unleashed the felting demon!!!!

Carole, all the samples turned out nice. But I admit I like the last two because of the deeper texture best. When my class is over I'm going to have to try it.

Looks like you had fun experimenting - I do think some machine stitch would be lovely. The top one in the second post looks like a garden of flowers to me.

they do look a bit messy at the mo, but hopefully they will develop, funny you should say that Ruth, I was thinking maybe it could be the basis for this challenge, if I remember he does flowers pics :-)

They all look like they have great potential for embellishing with hand and machine stitching. I wish I had the vision for doing such pieces. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them and your texture pieces

He does indeed do flowers Carole and I thought I could be inspired by some of those.

Your pieces are so inspiring! I like the use of colors and the abstract nature of the designs. Can you briefly describe how you begin to approach large designs such as these? I seem to recall that you improvised some of it by using pieces cut from previously felted wool?

Beautiful Carole! I agree with Cathy the vibrant colors and abstract nature are terrific. The needlework adds just the right finishing.

A beautiful piece Carole, and yes, African ladies. I especially like the pink one which really looks like an elegant lady with a typical headdress.

Well done Carole. It turned out really nicely. Are you going to frame it?
