I had to try Liz's ribbon with felt. I didnt use roving, but purple prefelt with moss, teal and purple organza ribbons and some merino/silk as embellishment on top. I loved the texture that was created. I decided to make another small strip and will attempt a small clutch. The silk paper flower I made looks a little fuzzy because of the humidity, but I intend to use it in either some nuno felting or in wall hanging. Notice a color theme here? I have all these colors in my home. Comments or ideas are welcome. Marilyn Nelson

The ribbon piece looks great. I think it would make a great clutch. I think the silk paper when made into a flower will always be kind of fuzzy just because of the technique. Keep up the great work!

Thanks again. I have to figure out what to do with it. I suppose I could hang it up as is after I put a little more textile medium on it to defuzz it. :-)

You could add it to a piece of felt or a hat, a bag...

I like both. the colours are great. I think using the flower on another piece would be very nice.

I get stuck with picking the same colours a lot too! I like the fabric you've made and it'll make a lovely clutch.

Thanks Zed. I love the texture which is why I love the Nuno, too. I started another "stained glass" type of project and will post results next week. I've also been working on projects from your polymer book. Playing now, but hope to have something to show soon. Thanks so much for all your help and inspiration!

Thanks, Marilyn, you're welcome I haven't felted for ages! I've been trying to tidy up and finish started projects so I have the room, but I have a few ideas I want to start on and maybe use up some more fibre paper. I'm really looking forward to seeing your polymer work

Zed, you must have had a huge store of felt if you haven't done any felting lately to complete all your wonderful projects. :-)

I finally had a chance to use the ribbon felt to make a glass or camera case. I used metallic thread to stitch it together. I spent days doing this. I cant tell how how many times I started over! I also had difficulty because I couldn't use one length of thread to do the whole thing! I have real respect for those of you who use the blanket stitch regularly. :-) I haven't found or made a button for this. I like the organic look and don't know if a button would add or take away. I did use a large snap to close it on the inside. Let me know what you think. Attachment Deleted

Marilyn - your blanket stitch is very neat. Starting and stopping is always a pain, in my opinion. I think it looks great without a button. The texture is wonderful.

Thanks Ruth. I worked hard to make it neat. :-). Believe me, it's not perfect. I'm glad I'm not alone thinking its hard to stop and start again. I'm sure practice makes perfect. I'm just not sure my old hands would agree. :-)

I think it's pretty - and the blanket stitch is just right! It may take hours, but hand stitching is very comforting.
