Zed will be posting an invitation on our blog to join the forum tomorrow. We have decided to keep the forum to invitation only which means that guests can't see the forum at all. We thought that would help to avoid spammers and people joining or viewing who don't participate. It will probably keep the number of members smaller but we thought a small 'family' might work better at this point.
If you know of another felter/fiber artist who you think might like to join, please feel free to ask them. You just need to give them the forum URL and they can then sign up as a member.
Do let us know what you think about keeping the forum semi-private. We appreciate your input.

I think we all understand and support each other. We understand the spirit in which this group is set up and are all like minded. The other forum is still going so I am fine with this being by invitation. We can always review this later on. Yes from me.

Just a thought...if you post an invitation on the blog does that mean anyone who reads it (comes across it) will be able to join and therefore it is generally open?

Technically, yeah it does. But everyone has to be approved so hopefully it'll be possible to tell from user names who they are/where we know them from, and whether they look genuine or suspicious. And if we're all vigilant, we can delte/ban any spam/spammer if they do happen to get through.

I think it best to keep it semi-private. As has been said it cuts the risk of 'spammers' and there will be better control of the site.
It's not written in tablets of stone - changes can be made if and when it's deemed appropriate.
It's a bit like salt in cooking, you can always add, but not take it away:0)

You all have done everything perfect up to now, so I have absolutely no reason not to trust your judgment in all things. Love this place!

I know! I have a few spinners and weavers contacts on flickr, I'm going to invite them, they make such gorgeous stuff it'd be nice to know more about it.

Talking to a few fibre addicts yesterday, I commented about this forum. I hope that is ok... I hadnt read this post... it was an innocent "hey, have you seen this forum" type thing. I told Monika from Red2white: red2white.wordpress.com/ and Kim from ViltalaKim: viltalakim.com/blog/ I don't know if they will apply but... just a heads up!

Cool I know we have far more members than what we see posting, but not everyone has time to post at the moment, but the more the merrier and I like Kim
