I made some prefelt in the dryer today. I laid out the wool between 2 shears, wet them and rolled them up around a damp towel. I wrapped the whole thing in a damp towel and tied it, then popped it into the dryer with no heat and let it tumble for 20 min. the felt came out great. It is drying now. I will add some pictures tomorrow.

That sounds like a nice easy way to do it.

Great idea Ann - I'll have to try it. I need some prefelt for a nuno project for your challenge.

Wow - what a variety. What kind of wool is the brown/black one near the middle?

Its a mix of all kinds Ruth. but will be mostly merino because that's most of what I have around. I save all the little bits in colour groups and then when I have enough I run it all through the carder. It was 2 short fat pieces and to long thin pieces but I put them close together and when I wet them out they all touched and joined together. I could easily pull them didn't bother. There is a small pink red piece and a blue green piece above it. They were done the same way. There is almost none of those left.

I've just made 10 squares and have more in the dryer! I've been meaning to make some prefelt for ages, but didn't get around to it. Thanks Ann, great tip.

I now have quite a pile of prefelt squares. They feel so wonderfully springy all in a pile, it seems such a pity to change them!!

I don't have a dryer, do you think it'd work if I put some out on the line, it's quite windy?
